Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJACK E. MARSCH It is with great sorrow that we announce that Jack Marsch, aged 73 of Winnipeg, passed away in his home on February 24, 2012. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 30 years, Maureen, his stepdaughters Ceci Gorlick and Susan (David) Crupi, and his five grandchildren Samantha, Ryan, Alexandra, Gregory Gorlick, and Alexander Crupi. Also mourning are his cousin Hope Carroll and his numerous friends. Jack was born in Winnipeg on December 24, 1938 and was predeceased by his parents Edna (Rundle) and Edward Marsh. Jack first worked at the Winnipeg Free Press and then at Moore Business Forms. When Moore moved to Vancouver, he too moved, but his love for Winnipeg prevailed. He returned to Winnipeg where he entered the business sector and operated several businesses until his recent retirement. Notably, his most successful endeavour was Video World, which he opened with his partner Louis Seguin in 1981. Jack was a highly respected and competitive bridge player with many tournament wins. He was an avid sports enthusiast. Among his greatest pleasures were gatherings with family and friends to watch, and of course criticize, the experts on their follies. What grease , he would say when the winning strategy was theirs!!! Jack was truly a people person and was in his element when he and Maureen hosted numerous dinners for friends and family. There he could be found with the clock around his neck and his BBQ meals perfectly cooked. He was famous for his Martinis, wit, intelligence and debating skills. He was pragmatic, analytical, and a cosumate story teller who kept everyone enthralled with his feats and misadventures, or his acerbic comments on politics and life in general. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him and were fortunate to have him as a friend. Funeral services were held at Shaarey Zedek Synagogue, Rabbi Alan Green officiating.. Pall bearers were Gregory and Ryan Gorlick, Brian Pauls, G. Sekhar, John Anthony, and Louis Seguin. Honorary pall bearers were Samantha and Alexandra Gorlick, Dr. Norman Portnoy, Marilyn Walder, Lorraine Serlin Brian Dixon, and Jacqueline Simkin. Donations may be made to the Jewish Foundation of Winnipeg, or the charity of your choice. For auld lang syne, my dear, For auld land syne. We will tak a cup o kindness yet, For auld lang syne.
