She was predeceased by her parents, Arsène and Marial; her brothers Valmore and Adrien; her sister Janine; and her children Denise, Jocelyne and Roger. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 67 years Jean; her sons Gérald (Andrée) and Marcel (Trish); her brothers Roger (Liliane) and Daniel (Alice); her sister Claire (Paul deceased); her daughter-in-law Carol (Ken); her grandchildren Kevin, Nicolas, Eric, Marie-Josée, Isabelle, Catherine and Julie, her great-grandchildren, her nephews, nieces and many dear friends. Yolande was born on November 20, 1922, in Fisherbranch, MB, where she spent her childhood. Being the eldest, she developed a keen sense of responsibility and a nurturing spirit towards her brothers and sisters, qualities which transcended into her vocation as a teacher and that of motherhood. She received her education at the Saint Norbert and La Broquerie convents and finally at Normal School where she obtained her Teacher's Certificate. Yolande married Jean Paquin on July 8, 1944. Their love and commitment towards each other continued throughout their lives. Her teaching career brought her to various locations such as Boggy Creek, Sainte-Rose-du-Lac, Saint Boniface in Manitoba, Red Lake Road, Vermilion Bay and McIntosh (Ontario) where she resided for many years. She always greeted the many visitors at McIntosh and Bowden with open arms. Her passions included music, song, baking, nature walks and her cherished grandchildren. Yolande was truly a devoted spouse, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend filled with warmth and tenderness. She faced life's hardships with humility and courage. She was an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Yolande's quiet wisdom and gentle spirit will be greatly missed by family and friends. Our heartfelt thanks to Doctor Yvon Gagnon, nurses and staff at the Dryden Regional Health Centre and Thunder Bay Hospital for their kindness and compassion. A celebration of life will be held at Quibell Community Hall (Ontario), on Monday, February 27, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. with Mr. Harry Toews officiating. Interment of ashes will be at a later date. Mrs Paquin was my second grade teacher at Beliveau School where I believe she was also Principal. This school was on Speers Road in South Winnipeg. I believe it was 1957 - 58. She is a teacher that I remember fondly. I still remember the words to one of the songs she taught us about the Kookaburra bird from Australia. She had a very kind method of communicating with her students whether it was arithmetic or reading or singing. I'm glad to hear she lived a long life, happily married. If she had grandchildren, she probably enjoyed and loved them very much, and her grandchildren likely loved her very much too. - Posted by: Jeannie D Larcombe (Student) on: Oct 08, 2021

- Posted by: Gérald Gagnon (Visiteur annuel à Macintosh pendant 13 ans) on: Mar 13, 2012

My deepest sympathy! Mrs. Paquin was my teacher at Verdun School in Ste Rose du Lac. Mb. I am glad I had the opportunity to reconnect with her through a letter a few years ago. "Thank-you for influencing my life." I do remember her warmth and nurturing spirit. Not too long ago, I asked Melvin A. who recently was in Ste Rose to bring good wishes back to Mrs. Paquin as he met with her at the seniors group. May you rest in Peace! Very grateful, Elvier Brunel (Béasse) - Posted by: Elvier Brunel (Béasse) (Former student) on: Feb 27, 2012

I had the pleasure of knowing Jean and Yolande when they were still in our park in Mesa, Az. Yolande always had a smile on her face and a hand outstretched to anyone who needed help. My condolences to Jean and the family. - Posted by: Bernice Heinrichs (friend from Mesa Dunes Park in Mesa, Az) on: Feb 27, 2012

So very sorry to read of Yolande's passing in today's paper, Johnny. Having lost Jim last August, I know how difficult this is for you and your family. I will remember many good times we've all had together down in Mesa. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. - Posted by: Doreen Bullen (Friend) on: Feb 27, 2012
