TAMMI LYNN CAROL KROEKER (nee KNOX) Peacefully, on Thursday, February 23, 2012, Tammi passed away at the age of 38 after a year-long illness. Tammi will be lovingly remembered by her family: husband Ryan and children Hannah, Aaron and Ethan; mother Carol Knox and grandfather Keith Knox; sisters Tannis Knox-Arnould (children Austin and Allan) and Naomi Rodgers (children David and Kaitlyn); parents in-law, Helen and Bob Hicks, Henry and Penny Kroeker; and sisters-in-law Kim Warkentin (Kevin, children Dale and Colby), Sheri Schmidtke (Rob, children Cali and Riley) and Holly Kroeker. She was predeceased by her grandmother Elizabeth Knox. Tammi treasured her family, friends and students, but her greatest joy was her three children and she lived the values she taught them. She was kind, loyal, independent and always looked for the positive in even the darkest situations. Tammi graduated from Westgate Mennonite Collegiate in 1991, and went on to pursue a teaching career. She found her calling as an elementary school teacher, providing grade one and two students at Machray Elementary School with the foundation they need to inspire life-long learning. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at The Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington Street, Winnipeg. The family would like to thank the staff of Grace hospital for their care of Tammi in her last two weeks, and Dr. Brandes, Mayah and CancerCare Manitoba for the care they provided over the last year. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations in honour of Tammi can be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, 1160-675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. Though it has been 10 years since I taught with Tammi, I will always remember her dedication to, and passion for, teaching. She was always looking for exciting and creative ways to stimulate the curious young minds of her students. What a wonderful teacher she was. I can only imagine the warm, loving mother and wife she became. What a tragic loss for her family, friends, coworkers and students. My deepest sympathy. - Posted by: Deb Thordarson (Former co worker of Tammi's) on: Mar 02, 2012

To Ryan and his family and friends, I too lost someone very special - my son Daniel when he was 8 years old. Ryan, nothing anyone says or does will mend the hurt and emptiness you and your loved ones feel right now. It is only having some sort of faith - a belief that there is something higher, beyond us - that in time will ease the sorrow. My wife Joanne and I will pray for you and yours. I met Tammi at dance class and only knew her briefly, but I found her to be the kindest, most positive and most genuine person that I had ever encountered. Although the world has definitely lost a beautiful soul, it is not gone - everything that was Tammi, lives on through her children.
