FRANK CWIK July 25, 1924 - February 26, 2012 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Frank Cwik on February 26, 2012 husband of Mary Cwik (previously deceased). He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Irene (Joe), Ed (Penny), Judy (Harry), Rick (Pat), Christine (Royal), Walter (Diane), and Stanley (Jean). Also to mourn his memory are his grandchildren, Wanda (Calgary), Peter, Cynthia, Kevin, Angela, Tom, Edward, Paul, Vincent, Melissa, Ryan, Christopher, Jennifer (Montreal), Elliot, Samantha, Alyssa, Jason, Brendan, Nealon, Lyndon as well as great-grandchildren and their children Crystal, Anthony (Ryan, Brook), Jessica, Haley, Giavanna, Rino, Caprianna, Joshua, Jarrett, Matthew, Miranda and Alyssa. He also leaves behind to mourn his sisters Agnieszka (Poland), Carolyn and brother Joseph (Toronto), many nieces and nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his mother and father Katarzyna and Maciej Cwik, his brother John and sister Jean. Dad was born in Poland. He shared stories with his children and grandchildren of growing up in a large family with happy memories. This life was disrupted by war when dad was forced to work in labour camps. He lost family and friends during this time. In 1949 he arrived in Emerson with his family to work on a sugar beet farm for three years before moving to Winnipeg. He met and married mom in 1957. Dad worked at Paramount Windows eventually gaining permanent employment with C.P.R. as a trackman and then as a Blacksmith. He retired in 1986. Mom and dad bought a cabin and spent their retirement relaxing and fixing up their second home. They travelled during their marriage to the States to visit mom's family and also took a trip to the west coast with close friends which dad still reminisced about. Mom and Dad celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2007 with family and friends, a day he and mom enjoyed so much. Dad suffered with ill health during the latter part of his years but he refused to give in. He had a sharp wit, was interested and loved discussing world issues and politics, enjoyed good food, gardening, laughter and teasing us. He was a parishioner of Holy Ghost Church and an active member with Holy Ghost Fraternal Aid Society since 1954. Prayers will be held on Friday, March 2 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 3 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Ghost Roman Catholic Church, 341 Selkirk Ave. with an Oblate Father presiding.
