DONALD GEORGE WILLOX Suddenly and peacefully at his residence on Friday, March 2, 2012, at the age of 60. Don's unexpected passing has left his family and friends shocked and bereft. Don's life was permanently changed when he suffered severe injuries in an accident when he was 18. He beat all the predictions and first he survived, then he struggled, and in his last years he was genuinely happy in the community he built for himself in Portage la Prairie. Don was predeceased by his mother, Grace, in 1984. He is survived by his father, George Willox, of Argyle Manitoba, as well as sisters, his dearly loved niece and nephew, extended family and friends in Stonewall, Portage la Prairie, Winnipeg, Ottawa and Vancouver. His gentle and generous heart will be especially missed by sisters Dorothy and Gwen, his special best friend Vera, and his friends at Diamond D in Portage. A celebration of Don's life will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, 433 Main St., Stonewall, MB. Don will be laid to rest beside his beloved mother in Stonewall. Pallbearers will be Dave Rodgers, Tim Rodgers, Ray Calvert, Jamie Tessier, Dorothy Henry and Gwen Willox. Honourary pallbearers will be niece Cheryl Gilby, nephew Jeff Gilby, Wayne Gilby, Arleen Sinclair and Wanda Selzer. MACKENZIE FUNERAL CHAPEL (204) 467-2525 mackhome@mts.net

Condolences & Memories (15 entries)

  • Gwen, Please accept my condolences for your losses. I have often thought of Don and how he was doing and have recounted many times of how he was the one responsible for nicknaming me 'Stick' to get a rise out of me! Loved his dry sense of humour. He was a wonderful person and a true friend. He will be missed. - Posted by: Brenda Johannesen (High school, post high school) on: Mar 10, 2012
