ELEANOR RUTH GRAY (FULTON)
Date of Passing: Mar 06, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR RUTH GRAY (FULTON) With the pride, strength and tenacity she displayed throughout her 84 years, Eleanor (Sissy) passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2012, surrounded by loving family. Mom was a true and proud Transconian and it was there that she met Dad, Robert (Bob) Gray, and spent 46 laughter filled married years before Dad's passing in 2001. Born Eleanor Ruth Fulton in August of 1927, Mom lived almost her entire life on the same street and less than two blocks from the house she was born in. She told many stories of growing up with siblings Dick (Richard), Tats (Theodore) and her beloved sister Margaret who just passed away in October at 91. As we were growing up, many summers were spent on a road or train trip to Michigan to visit Aunty Margaret and the sisters remained as close as if they lived next door. To Mom, downtown' meant the block on Regent between Bond and Day and The City' was downtown Winnipeg. Friends she made at Central School, Business College and Transcona Memorial United Church were the ones she held dear to her final days. Mom sat in the same seat at Church for decades and was the first one seated and waiting every Sunday. Reverend Carol made sure to look for her as she arrived, comforted to see Mom in her spot'. Sissy was known for her laugh, her distinctive voice, her fancy shower sandwiches, her weekly Saturday bus rides down the street' and her famously delicious baking. After a short career at Imperial Oil, Mom left the workforce to raise her family, son Jeffrey and daughter Kimberley, who are left to treasure her stories and shared memories. Her humour and that voice kept us, her closest friends, and the compassionate, caring nurses at St. Boniface entertained to the end. Mom will reunite with Dad, her parents Stanley and Josephine Fulton and the siblings she's missed so much. Sister-in-law Ann and Mom's four special nieces Heather (Don), Sandra, Candice (Rick) and Corinne can be reassured that there is much joy and laughter being shared at the Fulton family table. Thank you to treasured friends Alma, Iris, Rene, Chris and Crystal for their constant visits and care that meant so much to Mom. And to Reverends Carol and Jeff who were the highlight of Mom's week for so many years and offered so much comfort and support to all of us. Donations to Transcona Memorial United Church, CancerCare Manitoba, St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation, or a charity of one's choice Mom, of all the lessons you taught me, this final one I cherish most...thank you.'

What a beautiful tribute to your Mom. She was a talented, generous woman. I can picture your Mom and Auntie Margaret having a laugh, their heads together sharing a good joke. Both of them had the kind of laugh that made you want to chuckle right along with them. I'm sure there is a great reunion right now with your Mom, Dad and Auntie. And you have another angel watching out for you. - Posted by: Laura and Robert Myers (Family friends) on: Mar 15, 2012
