Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryTHOMAS AARON CROY August 28, 1913 - March 7, 2012 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Tom Croy at Betel Home in Selkirk at the age of 98 years. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 65 years Helen, his children Dan (Marilyn), Colleen (Bruce) Gibbons, and Betty-Lou (Doug) Pickell, and his grandchildren Deanna Hubbert, Carrie and Dayna Croy, Adam and Shannon Pickell, and his great-grandchildren Rick, Ryan and Kyla. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Donna Ward and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents James and Rena, sister Marie, brothers George, Gerald, Fred and their spouses, sisters-in-law Elsie Ward, Peggy and her husband Fred Sheldon, brother-in-law John, Ted, Bill Ward and his wife Bette. Tom was born and raised on a farm near Stonewall. He farmed with his father and brother Gerald until 1940 when he joined the Air Force. He was stationed in England in 1941. After his discharge in 1945 he returned home and bought the family dairy farm. In 1946 he married Helen Ward. After he stopped dairy farming in 1967 he worked for Continental Casualty and then the Department of Agriculture until he retired in 1975. In 1985 Tom and Helen moved into Stonewall where he lived until moving into Betel Home in Selkirk last November. Tom was very active in the Royal Canadian Legion, the Red River Exhibition and was a 4-H club leader for many years. After they retired, he and Helen enjoyed many trips by themselves and with friends. Tom could often be found in his workshop making grandfather clocks and other projects for his family and friends. He liked to keep busy and was always available to help friends and family until Alzheimer's disease affected his ability to do so. The family would like to thank Michelle Lohmer and the home care workers who made it possible to keep Tom at home until last May. Our sincere thanks to the staff of the 6th wing of Betel Home for their compassionate care. A service of remembrance will take place on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel in Stonewall. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB or a charity of one's choice. Condolences to the Croy family. I enjoyed working with Tom in the milk business, especially when I was employed with Lucerne Milk Dept. - Posted by: Lawrence Heise (Friend in the dairy industry) on: Mar 13, 2012

Tom was one of my favorite Uncles which has resulted in many good memories, as I was growing up. I recall many years at harvest time of Uncle Tom coming to help out with his corn harvester, and my dad, Fred, both working together. We had many great family reunions through the years and have always enjoyed spending time with both Tom and Helen and my cousins. Our thoughts are with Aunt Helen, Colleen, Betty-Lou and Dan and their families at this time. It is sad to lose a loved one, but more important one should celebrate the good, long life he enjoyed. - Posted by: Vern and Louise Croy (nephew) on: Mar 12, 2012
