VICTOR STUBBS May 14, 1919 - March 11, 2012 We are very sad to announce the passing of our beloved dad, Victor Stubbs on Sunday, March 11, 2012, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg at the age of 92. Predeceased by his wife Evelyn (nee Griffiths) in 1977, Vic is survived by his daughter Gail Hannibal (Jim) Qualicum Beach, BC, daughter Victoria Wilson, and son Gerald (Jerry) Stubbs (Diane Ooto); his seven grandchildren; Diana Cowell (Paul Demarcke), Deborah Cowell (Shawn Mamchur) Kelowna BC, Tom Cowell (Sheila) Gimli, MB, Tracey Chizda (Aaron), Clayton Wilson Vancouver, BC, Laurelle Stubbs, and Karlene Stubbs (Montreal, QC); his five great-grandchildren; Evan Chizda, Jordan Chizda, Seth Chizda, Joshua Cowell and Addison Mamchur. Also left to mourn his passing are his good friend Chris Wilson, brothers, Herb Stubbs (Shirley), Robert Stubbs (Kathie), Blake Stubbs, and sister Lucille Schmidt and close sister-in-law Claire Stubbs, Victoria, BC. Dad was predeceased by his parents Harry and Violet Stubbs, brothers Lloyd Stubbs, Harry Stubbs, Gerald Stubbs, Kenneth Stubbs and sister Violet Smith. Vic was born in Winnipeg in 1919 and lived here all of his life where he was a very successful salesman, primarily in the printing industry. His proudest achievement was building his own cottage at Jessica Lake in The Whiteshell where he and his family spent many wonderful summers together. We all treasure the memories of those fun times with dad. His grandchildren will tell you grandpa made the best Sunday morning pancakes ever. Special thanks go out to all of the nurses, health care aids and doctors on the third floor at the Grace Hospital for the kindness and care they gave to our father. If he could have expressed it, Vic would be sure to have let you know how much he appreciated your kind efforts, as did his family. Thank you so much. Vic, our Dad, was quite a character. Despite enjoying life to the fullest and doing everything he shouldn't have, he still lived to be 92, he was shooting for 100 up until a very few months ago. His life could perhaps be summed up in the famous song by Frank Sinatra I did it my way! Rest easy Dad, we love you! Cremation has taken place and our Dad will be interned in the plot he purchased a great many years ago to ensure that he be laid to rest beside his beloved wife Evelyn. A private family service will be held at a later date to celebrate Victora's life. Arrangements were graciously handled by Mosaic Funeral Services.
