Nick was born in Winnipeg, MB on June 10, 1941 and was the eldest son in a family of eight siblings. Nick was predeceased by his brother Stanley (1956), father Walter (1988), mother Frances (1997), and brother John (2010). Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Shirley (Ed), Linda, brothers Earl (Jeane), Larry (Brenda), Eddie, also sister-in-law Irene, as well as many nephews and nieces. Nick worked very hard alongside his father on the family farm, raising livestock, growing grain and market gardening. At various times he also worked for the Lasko Brothers in St. Adolphe, MB, McIvor and Ward Brothers in Selkirk, Litz Crane Services in Winnipeg, Brick n' Tile in Lockport, Mandak in Selkirk and Selkirk Ready Mix. Nick enjoyed hours of picking wild berries and mushrooms. He enjoyed hunting, biking, puzzles, meeting and talking to anyone he met. He was a friend to all, very kind, generous, hardworking and wouldn't hesitate to give anyone a helping hand. He loved all animals especially his pet dog Bear . He was famous for his potato pancakes which we all enjoyed. A special thanks to the nursing staff at the Selkirk General for their compassion and care. A special thanks to Dave, Joan and Darren Galka. Cremation has taken place (Gilbart Funeral Home). A family service will be held at a later date. My deepest condolences to the family. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I had the pleasure of knowing Nick as a teenager dating his brother Eddie and hanging out at Nick`s house and his mom and dad`s home. Nick was always kind, friendly and willing to give a helping hand when you needed help. - Posted by: Dawn Kachkowsky (family friend) on: Mar 16, 2012

I remember Nick from many years ago when I chummed around with his sister, Shirley and visited at the family farm many times, thereby knowing the entire family. We all went to the same one room school house way back when. My sincere condolences to the family who may contact me at any time. Would love to hear from Shirley and Ed again.
