GERALD GEORGE BROWN August 24, 1939 - March 9, 2012 It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Gerald George Brown (Gerry) at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on March 9, 2012, at the age of 72. Gerry will be missed by his loving wife Verna; his children Darlene (Greg), Geraldine (Gary), David (Barb), Wendy (Mike); his grandchildren LeAnne, Cheri (Ian), Samantha, Randy, Earl, Emily, Taylor, Dylan, Stephanie, Jeffery, Ian, and his great-granddaughter Kaebrie, as well as his brother Elwood (Ruth), many nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family. He is predeceased by his mom and dad (Dorothy and James); brother Richard, and nephew Doug. Gerry was born August 24, 1939 and grew up in Crawford Park, Manitoba with a large extended family in the area. He moved to Winnipeg at 16 and met and married Verna in 1959, and they started their family soon after. Gerry moved his family to Fort McMurray, Alberta in 1971 where he worked for GCOS then Suncor for 23 years. On his first retirement he moved to the Caroline, Alberta area and was most recently in Sylvan Lake where he worked for Pollitt Construction operating heavy equipment. Gerry's love and appreciation of all things sports and outdoors guided him throughout his life. The pride and joy of his life were his children's and grandchildren's successes and love. His laughter and fun loving nature will be missed by his family and many friends. Many thanks to the Sylvan Lake paramedics and the emergency ward of the Red Deer Regional Hospital for their kind care. Please join us to bid farewell to Gerry on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home, 5019 47a Ave., Sylvan Lake, Alberta. Cremation entrusted to the Rocky Mountain Crematorium. As an expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made in Gerry's name to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation or the SPCA.
