Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE ROBERT (DONALD) CAMPBELL The family of Don Campbell sadly announces his peaceful passing on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 85. His memory will be cherished by Sheenagh, his loving wife and best friend of almost 50 years, and his children Jean Anne (Glen Booker), Robert (Jennifer), Glen; grandchildren Graham, Stephanie, Aidan and Cian. Don is also survived by his younger brother Morris (Sheila) of Regina and sister-in-law Jean Ormiston of Parksville, BC as well as many nieces and nephews and dear friends. He is predeceased by parents Annie and Wilfred, sisters Agnes, Margaret and Jessie. Don was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on April 18, 1926, where he received his early education. As a boy he was a drummer in the Regina Boys Pipe Band; a member of cubs and scouts, as well as a variety of sports teams. After graduating from high school, Don went to the University of Saskatchewan, where he studied Commerce. In 1943 he joined the Canadian Navy where he served on convoy duty for two years in the North Atlantic. Don travelled through the Panama Canal as well as many interesting places during the Second World War. As an able seaman he let off the depth charges which resulted in a profound deafness during his lifetime. At a later date Don became an officer in the Reserve Navy. After the war, Don returned to study at the University of Saskatchewan; where he received his Bachelor of Commerce. Don went to Toronto to further his studies and received his Masters of Business Administration at the University of Toronto. Extensive studies in Montreal earned Don his Chartered Accountant (C.A.) designation. A return to the University of Saskatchewan gave Don an opportunity to teach accounting and business related courses. Several years later Don established his C.A practice in Regina. In 1937 a new neighbourhood baby by the name of Sheenagh Ormiston arrived, two doors from the Campbell family. This little lassie moved to Winnipeg with her family at age five. The friendship of these two families continued over many years. On June 9, 1962, Donald married Sheenagh, the love of his life. The newly married couple lived in Regina where Don continued his flourishing C.A. practice. In due time a lovely daughter Jean Anne and a precious son Robert were welcomed into the family. A years' sojourn in Scotland where Don worked, brought the family of four happy family times together. Upon returning to Canada, Don accepted a teaching position at Red River College in the Business Administration Department, where he worked for twelve years. Glen their precious third child arrived into the family. At this point in his life Don had a calling to study Theology at St. Andrews College in Saskatoon. The family moved there for a year. Upon returning to Winnipeg, Don served at a congregation for a year. After much reflection, Don accepted a professorship at Brandon University where he set up the Business Administration program. During these years Don continued his own education at BU and earned his Bachelor of General Studies. He retired from teaching in 1992. Don had a great passion for life. He dearly loved his Sheenagh, his children, grandchildren, family members and dear friends. He liked a challenge and learned to fly a plane in his forties. Don possessed a great sense of humour. He had a keen mind but loved simple pleasures like strolling along an ocean shore collecting stones and shells; watching a beautiful sunset at Clear Lake, or viewing a grain field which brought him great pleasure. Don loved to play with his children, nieces and nephews. How he loved to travel with Sheenagh and his children. Don was a mentor to many of his students. Throughout his life he served the church and community in many ways. He served as a scout leader with his brother Morris, was a member of the AOTS, the board of Agape table, the senate at Knox College in Toronto. Don was an ardent supporter of high school and university sports. He attended countless Bison sporting events at the University of Manitoba over many years. Don liked to keep busy and was always available to help family and friends until vascular dementia and other physical conditions affected his ability to do so. The void in our lives will never be filled, but we give thanks in knowing that Don is at peace with our God. Together we would like to thank all of our family and friends for their constant support. A special thanks to Dr. L. P. Leung Shing who gave Don excellent medical care for over twenty years. A heartfelt thank you to the medical, nursing, homecare, social worker and other team members who cared for Don on E5, St. Boniface Hospital. Juliet, your wonderful homecare visits brightened each day you cared for Don at our apartment. A celebration of Don's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 16 at the Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Boulevard. If friends desire, in lieu of flowers a donation in Don's name may be made to: The Charleswood United Church, Agape Table, PO, Box 2611; Winnipeg, MB,R3G 3R3 or Department of Philanthropy, 179 Extended Education Complex, University of Manitoba, R3T 2N2 Student Athletic Scholarship Fund in Don Campbell's name. I cherished Don, as he was a unique man, and a dying breed of gentleman, caring and knowlegeable person. He reminded me so much of my father, as they were from the same mold, and truly a loving man. I miss you both. Enjoy the peace you have finally found. We WILL remember them. - Posted by: Kareen Hudson (friend) on: Apr 22, 2012

I had the pleasure of knowing Don and Sheenagh as patients at Charleswood Clinic. They were the nicest couple, always a smile and kind word, and the smiles and laughs were reflected in Don's twinkling eyes. I have wondered how they were doing and have often remembered Don's words of encouragement, support and wisdom during some terribly difficult times in my life. I am saddened by his passing, but there is a time for everything, and I will always remember Don and Sheenagh.
