NATHANAEL JOHN ARTHUR MEISSNER Nathanael Meissner was reported missing while hiking in the Gatineau Hills in late December, 2011. Sadly, his death from exposure has recently been confirmed. He was the son of Christine Willette and stepson of The Rev. Jack Risk of Winnipeg. They join other family members -- his father John Meissner, Joshua Meissner, Marissa Meissner, Sarah, Matthew and Rebecca Risk, Lisa Taylor, Susan Prosser -- and his many friends in declaring their love for this talented, gentle and humorous young man. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 31, at St. Matthew Anglican Church, 641 St. Matthew's Ave., Winnipeg. Please direct donations, with the family's gratitude, to: The WestEnd Commons (http://thewestendcommons.ca/) or Resource Assistance for Youth (http://www.rayinc.ca/Donations.aspx)

I have seen the park bench dedicated in memory of Nat Meissner in the Chapman Mills Conservation Area. I pass it on my regular running route and usually stop to take a breather and look out at the water. This bench has become a place of introspection for me and wanted to share a thank you for the donation and hope Nat is resting in peace. AK - Posted by: A Khan (Other) on: Oct 04, 2021

A flood of colourful thoughts enter my mind when I think of my pal Nat. Visions of caterpillars on toadstools, thick African-style beads and plaid grunge shirts, slap bass, and big grins. The best dude I ever knew...miss ya buddy, always will. - Posted by: Aaron Ransome (Friend) on: Jan 07, 2015

Just found out this sad news. Nat was a great friend of mine during his years in Sault Ste Marie. He was a very nice, artistic and bright kid, as I recall. We had lots of adventures--pretend-driving an old VW pick-up his dad had parked out back, collecting thousands of baseball stickers, and sleep-overs. My sincere condolences to the family, especially to John, Josh and his step-mom Lisa, who I got to know well. I heard a lot about his Mom-he talked about her all the time, especially her challenges with vision loss. May Nat rest in peace, and may we all bring mental health issues into the fore-front. The only close friends I've lost in my life have all been affected. - Posted by: Mark Jenkins (Friend) on: Nov 08, 2012
