MARION LOUISE RAYMOND DEEGAN 1921 - 2012 It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great- grandmother; Marion Louise Raymond Deegan in the afternoon of March 12, 2012. It was not until after 90 vibrant and celebrated years that Marion died peacefully in the loving arms of her family at Grace General Hospital. Marion was predeceased by her husband Fred in 1981. She is survived by her children Mary Kay (Len) Boguski of Winnipeg, Frances (Robert) Drysdale of Regina, Michael Deegan (Helen Pengelly) of Pleasant Valley, Manitoba and Marian McKenzie (Bill) of Calgary; her grandchildren, David, Bradley, Graeme, Owen, Shauna (Todd), Karen (Chris), Heather and Laura Leigh; and new great-grandbaby Ella Amelia Marion was born in Neepawa, Manitoba as the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Belton. Her scholarly aptitude derived from various country schools including Eden and Muir, Manitoba, enabled her to excel at the University of Manitoba (1939 1942), where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree and was the proud recipient of numerous scholarships. The friends she made in university have remained true to her all these years and many attended the class reunion in 2002 some 60 years later one of the easiest graduate groups to become re-acquainted. Marion had very fond memories of working at the Grain Exchange from 1942 until 1947, particularly as the meeting place of her future husband, Frederick Deegan. Marion and Fred were married in 1947, and together treasured their West End home. Precious holidays were spent taking the train to Grand Beach and later motoring to Clear Lake in a 1958 Dodge. Marion greatest joys included music and literature, but most of all her cherished times with her children, grandchildren and beloved friends. We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to her many visitors both near and far, who brought such joy and contentment during her stay in hospital. Ours thanks to the medical and nursing staff at the Health Sciences Centre, General Hospital, Deer Lodge Centre and Grace Hospital who patiently took good care of our mother. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider a contribution to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, Manitoba Branch, Unit 1-452 Dovercourt Dr. Winnipeg, MB R3Y 1G4. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.mb.ca 885-9715

I am Eric's mother. I recall the many telephone conversations with Mrs. Deegan, during the 90's when Eric & Bobby were in the yard work/odd jobs business. My fondest memory of her is from the summer of 2000. When she learned that I had undergone major surgery & baked us the most delicious blueberry pie. We finally met Mrs. Deegan when we dropped by to return her pie plate. She invited us into her lovely home & was the most gracious of hostesses. Sincerest condolences to her family. - Posted by: Marilyn Bjornson (Neighborhood Acquaintance) on: Mar 22, 2012

My mother, Marjorie Feher and Marion were introduced to each other in 1948 by Fr. J.H. Mulally, the resident priest at Winnipeg's St. Edward's Catholic Church. For many years they kept a tradition of calling each other at 10:30 a.m. Monday through Friday recounting the joys and challenges of raising their respective families. The tradition continued well into the current decade. I will miss asking my mother, "What's new with Marion." Rest in peace dear Marion. - Posted by: Greg Feher (Friend of the family.) on: Mar 18, 2012
