CORY LYNN MAYOR LABOSSIERE It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Cory, at home, on March 11, 2012 with her husband Ed (Edgar) and son Chase by her side. She was a R.P.N. and Seven Oaks Hospital. She had many good friends and was loved by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed by her family and also her mother-in-law Lorraine Blunden (nee Marcoux) (Bob); her father-in-law Ron Labossiere (Lorraine) from Winnipeg; her sister-in-law Jacqueline Ethier (Roger) and two nieces Danielle and Catherine Wahl from Saskatoon, as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. Ed left his place of employment to care for his wife who was taken by cancer. He was the sole caregiver. God Bless You Ed and Chase for your devoted care.

CORY LYNN MAYOR LABOSSIERE January 3, 1960 - March 11, 2012 After a lengthy battle with cancer, Cory passed away at home surrounded by her loving family. Husband Ed, son Chase, Mom and Dad (Orv and Donna) sister and best friend Kristen (Ross Einfeld), brother Craig (Christina) and niece Kyle Lee. Cory was born in Dauphin where she grew up and went to school. In 1983 she graduated from Brandon Mental Hospital with a degree in psychiatric nursing. She moved to Winnipeg where she was employed for many years at Beacon Hill Lodge. Then a change of employment to Seven Oaks Hospital in 1999. In 2000 she moved to the Geriatric Mental Health unit at Seven Oaks where her co-workers became the most amazing friends for the rest of her life. Cory worked until she was forced to take leave due to her recurring cancer, but the friends and workers never left. Cory and Ed were married in Mazatlan, Mexico in February 2001. They loved their home and garden along the riverbank and enjoyed having friends drop in and visit, which everyone invariably did. It was Cory's wish that there be no service, a Celebration of her Life will be held at a later date. There are so many people to thank and hug, but in particular, Pam Semchych and Lois Walterson who travelled to Toronto Hospital with Cory last fall and have been constant in our lives. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of their own choice.

  • I had the most wonderful pleasure of meeting Cory in the Dominican Public last year while lounging around the pool. My mother [Doreen] and I were quickly drawn into many conversations with Cory and her friend Cathy which eventually led to exciting adventures in the Carribean together. Cory was the best snorkeling buddy ever, even when she lured me to some very large strange looking underwater creatures or tried to make me laugh underwater in the middle of the ocean. She was also very fluent in bargain hunting shopping! Cory's whole heart was bound by compassion for life, love and laughter. Her smile contagious. I also had the pleasure of meeting Cory's parents and husband in Winnipeg. My deepest thoughts are with you and all of the family.
