MURRAY MCCLARTY With profound sadness we announce the passing of Edgar Murray McClarty, beloved father and grandfather. After a life well-lived Murray died on March 18, 2011 at St. Boniface Hospital. Murray will be deeply missed by his children, Pamela (David) Hughes, Blake (Sheila) McClarty, and Grant (Cori) McClarty, as well as grandchildren, Peter, Andrew, and Christopher Hughes, Megan and Davis McClarty, and Leigh McClarty and his many nieces and nephews. Murray was predeceased by his parents, sister Evelyn Walker and beloved wife of 60 years, Margaret (nee Miller) McClarty. Murray was born on October 30, 1926 in Dauphin, MB to Edgar and Henrietta McClarty (nee Fulton). He moved to Winnipeg in his teens and graduated from Kelvin High School. Murray qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1949 and began a long and successful career. He joined first Robinson Green and later Peat Marwick Mitchell before forming his own firm, Murray McClarty and Company, in 1969. His firm later merged with Coopers Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers). In recognition of his exemplary service to the profession the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants granted him the designation FCA. He loved his work and remained fully engaged in his tax practice for a group of longstanding clients until three weeks before he died. As a teenager Murray worked as a truck driver at the Greyhound Bus Depot which led to a lifelong enjoyment of driving. His three children have many happy memories of car trips to the Seattle World's Fair, Expo 67 and Yellowstone Park. Murray was an active member of McDermot Avenue Baptist Church for 60 years. A Funeral Service will be held at McDermot Avenue Baptist Church at 821 McDermot Ave. on March 21, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will be held at the church after the service, followed by interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens at 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to McDermot Avenue Baptist Church, 821 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0T7 or the Health Sciences Centre Foundation, MS107 - Thorlakson Building, 820 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3A 1R9.
