JOHN (JACK) MCAREE CAMPBELL It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the age of 87. Jack was predeceased by his daughters Donna Lawrence (Craig), Heather Philippot (Gil), parents Jack and Elsie Campbell, brother Ross, and sister Audrey Prier. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 62 years, Helen, daughter Sharon (Dwight) Lavineway, sons Fraser, Rob (Angie), 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, beloved sister Gwen Forbes, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jack was a wonderful husband and very caring and loving father. He was our rock and the solid foundation on which our family grew and thrived. His career in the lumber business took his young family across the prairies, settling in Winnipeg in 1967. Upon retirement he and Helen built their dream home at Belair, Manitoba where they lived for the next 16 years establishing many new and lasting friendships. Upon returning to Winnipeg they loved their new home and friends at St. James Lions Estates. Jack was an avid sports fan with golf being his passion. It would be a very rare occurrence for him to turn down a game with friends and family. He was a talented wood carver with his many projects gracing the homes of family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 23 at 11:00 a.m. in the Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, Winnipeg. Thank you to Dr. P. Harris, Dr. N. Matthews and the wonderful nursing staff of Emergency and 3 North at the Grace Hospital. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired donations may be made in Jack's memory to CancerCare Manitoba. • Dear Helen, Sharon, Fraser, Robbie, Craig, Gil and families, Please know that we share your grief and wish we could be with you at this time. My parents were best friends with Helen and Jack. We all lived together for a while in the same house in Swift Current when I was a child. Heather was my best friend, so my childhood was full of happy times with the Campbell family. Jack was like a second Dad and I loved visiting him at the hardware store with my Dad; which could explain why a hardware store is still my favorite shopping place. Thank you Jack for that, and for the many memories of those treasured family times we shared with the Campbell Family. Our hearts and love are with the Campbell family, now and always. With love and sympathy, Gaye-Lynn - Posted by: Gaye-Lynn Kern (friend) on: Mar 21, 2012
