ETHEL FREED September 29, 1925 - March 9, 2012 It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ethel Freed in her 86th year on March 9, 2012. Ethel was predeceased by her parents Aaron and Fanny Gertenstein, her sister Ann Koslovsky; her brothers-in-law Nathan Koslovsky and Sid Zimmerman. Left to cherish her memory are her husband Isaac; her daughter Sandy (Issy Schechter); her grandchildren Farrah Schechter-Torres (Chris) and Stacey Schechter; her great-granddaughter Ariana Torres; her son Jerry; her sisters Ruth Kagan (Jake), Hilda Klunner and brother Albert Gertenstein (Shayla); along with her nieces and nephews. Ethel was born in Montreal, and moved to Winnipeg with her family as a young girl. She went to David Livingston School and to Aberdeen School. From there she went to work at Murray's Coffee Shop until she went to help her father in the family restaurant . Ethel was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose main focus was her family. She was a kind and caring person loved by everyone who met her. A graveside service was held at the Bnay Abraham Cemetery on March 12, 2012. Pallbearers were her nephews Mark and Sheldon Koslovsky, Aaron Faybush, Brian, Kerry and Brent Gertenstein. If so desired, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of choice. There is a hole in our hearts but we know that you are in a better place. Rest in peace, we will miss you.
