  • My heart is heavy with the loss of my younger brother. He was very dear to my heart though we lived many miles apart. He always made me smile plus he saw the postive side of every situation. I will certainly miss his great many stories about his life as a bus driver and my deepest condolences to his family. - Posted by: Betty Blyth (Sister) on: Apr 02, 2012

  • Bob and I met in the seventies...two young fun-loving individuals and our lives were intertwined for years to come. Bob was a kind and helpful person who would lend a hand to whoever needed. He loved to travel and his Opel took us where we wanted to go. Even though Bob and I parted ways several years ago, he had touched me in such a way that he would remain in my heart forever. I will miss you Robert, Doreen - Posted by: Doreen Vandal () on: Apr 01, 2012

  • Ron Corrin ,I am in shock , i started the same day with Bob,Jan 7th 1980,His Badge # was 988 mine was 989,we trained for the 2 weeks together, then after the 4 weeks of routes got to know Bob quite well as we would all be just sitting at the transit base waiting for work in the transit lounge at the fort Rouge transit base ,most days for 6 hours,at a time,,as that year there was quite a number of retirements coming up causing the city to have to over hire at least 200 drivers for that first 1/2 year, Bobs Smile and kind words were always welcomed He was know and liked many transit drivers, and staff ,never having a bad word or thought to anyone "ever" for his 31 years of service, also I'm sure he touched the hearts of many transit passengers over the years quite deeply,as well, He loved to drive route #10 as long as I can remember, our group of the 1980 drivers that started that year got to know him well as I did, We will miss him and his Contagious! smile that always reached down deep to all of us that knew and worked with him, also then through the years 31 years sinning for routes with Bob also this song by Michal Jackson "GONE TO SOON" makes me think of our Transit brother and friend that touched every ones heart, deeply, see you again some day my friend ,RIP ,Bob,,Ron Corrin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBFr43vQiSM - Posted by: Ron Corrin (Winnipeg Transit driver who was Bobs partner for the 2 weeks of training Jan 07 1980) on: Mar 31, 2012

  • Rene and Linda give our sincere sympathy. We used to see Bob at Robin's on Provencher and also we would have coffee with him at Tim Horton's on Archibald - he would also bring his daughter(s). What a shock that is. We will miss him (his humour and laughter) - Posted by: Rene and Linda Desmarais (Rene had worked with Bob at the Winnipeg Transit.) on: Mar 31, 2012

  • So sorry to hear of Bob's passing. I didn't know him very well, but talked to him on many occasions. What a nice man, with a good sense of humor, and always a smile. Rest in peace Bob.... - Posted by: Kevin Kostyniuk (co-worker) on: Mar 31, 2012

  • Worked with Bob for over 32 years. He will be very sadly missed by his Transit Brothers and Sisters - Posted by: Thomas Blore (CO-worker) on: Mar 31, 2012

  • Bob was always upbeat and quite unique. Whether it was the car he drove (for a while, a Lancia) or his motorcycle (with Kermit the frog permanently strapped on) he was always a half step off centre which made him quite likeable and memorable. We worked together for almost 30 years. Bob will be fondly remembered by me till the day I die. - Posted by: Wayne Streeter (Co-worker) on: Mar 31, 2012

  • Out of all the drivers that work at that place, there are only a small handful that stand out for having the kind of soul that shines. Always a smile that made you feel like he really saw you and made you, just for a moment, happy. I am so saddened to hear that one of the good ones is gone. - Posted by: darlene mcwilliams (fellow bus driver) on: Mar 31, 2012

  • I was fortunate to have been part of Bob's life in the seventies. Two young kids in early twenties venturing across Canada in his grey opel...his pride and joy back then. We were together for 6 years and no one could have filled Bob's shoes. He was a kind and helpful person to anyone and everyone he met. He loved photography and his motorcycle having ventured to see his sister Betty when she lived in Toronto. Although we parted ways years ago, often a glimpse of the past flashed before my eyes and there was Bob. I will miss him and send my sincerest condolences.
