Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROY FREDERICK WILKINSON Roy passed away peacefully on April 1, 2012, at Menno Home in Grunthal, MB, with his family by his side. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years, Lillian (Lil); their three sons Marvin (Marianne), Sid (Patty) and Les (Leona); three grandchildren Jodie, Lisa and Scott and two great-grandchildren Sebastian and Zachary. Roy is also survived by his brother Bill (Eleanor); sister Nancy (lifelong friend Kay); sisters-in-law Anne and Mildred Weiss and numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was a soft-spoken, good natured man who liked to tease. He was born February 10, 1923 on the family farm in Ridgeville, MB. During the Second World War, he signed up and proudly served his country at the young age of 19. On September 24, 1949, Roy married Lillian Weiss and soon after started raising their family of boys in Ridgeville. Roy was a grain, dairy and turkey farmer and the farm always held a special place in his heart. He loved nature, the outdoors and was active in his community, serving on the rink, hall and church committees for many years. Roy loved farming, curling, playing crib, a home-cooked meal and especially enjoyed visits and celebrations with his family. A celebration of Roy's life will be held on Saturday, April 14 at 3:00 p.m. in Greenridge Church, with lunch to follow at the Ridgeville Hall. A private family interment will be held at a later date. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at Morris Hospital and Homecare in Dominion City, with special thanks to the Menno Home caregivers for their outstanding compassion and care. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those wishing to make a donation in Roy's memory, please donate to Menno Home, P.O. Box 280, 235 Park Street, Grunthal, MB, R0A 0R0. We love you and miss you. As a young boy who grew up on the farm a half mile north of Roy and Lils' I have many fond memories of their loving family. I can remember being too young to operate the equipment but still having lunch with Roy, Bill Wilkinson, Rich Weiss and dad harvesting down on the flats, making silage and building a barn on what is part of Sid's acreage. I can also remember visiting at Wilkinson's as they were our closest neighbour. In the evening we would play anti-I-over the old barn. As I grew older and our family sold our farm and moved to the city I remained close to Wilkinson's coming out to spend the weekend with the boys and always gracious when Lil made chocolate cake. It is during this time that I became known as No.4 son, being born the year between Marvin and Sid. It was quite an honor for me to show up at their place and be welcomed as part of their family. During this time I found out how much Roy used to like kibitzing around. He always that twinkle in his eye as he was up to some sort of mischief. Roy, you may not hear my words but thank for being there as a neighbour when we needed. You will always be remembered by your No. 4 son. - Posted by: Sheldon Gilchrist (Friend of the family) on: Apr 10, 2012

It is with great sorrow we hear of Uncle Roy's passing. Spending time with him on the farm was always a highlight of my childhood summers; his humour and his love of the land will inspire me forever. He was loved by many and will be missed. Our hearts are with you. Mary & Wade - Posted by: Mary Weiss & Wade Murrin (Niece & Husband) on: Apr 07, 2012
