Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (BOB) BACKLUND Peacefully at home Tuesday, April 3, 2012 Robert (Bob) Backlund passed away with his family by his side. Left to cherish Bob's memories are his wife of 30 Years Leslie Gail and their two children Kyle (Tanya) and Sherri (Sean). He also leaves behind his loving Mother Christa and his siblings Margaret, Ron, James, John and Diana, his in-laws Albert and Denise Ross as well as Karen (Gord), Chuck (Kerri), Nancy and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He was predeceased by his younger brother Mark Anthony in 2000 and his father Donald in 2007. Bob was born in Winnipeg on August 9, 1956 and was employed with Air Canada for 31 years before retiring in July of 2011. While employed with Air Canada he was known as Big City and later renamed himself to Big Country when the family moved to St. Adolphe. Bob was a loving family man and in his spare time loved to go fishing, boating and seemed to always be working on his vehicles. Many weekends you could find Bob surrounded by many good friends and family that knew they were always welcomed to join him for a drink and his words of wisdom. The family would like to thank the South Eastman Health Palliative care and Dr. Christopher Burnett for helping us care for Dad at home, where he wanted to be. A time of viewing will be held on Saturday, April 7 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home with the Memorial Service to be held on Monday, April 9 at 2:00 p.m. also at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home 1291 McGillivray Boulevard. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to South Eastman Health Palliative Care Program c/o DeSalaberry Box 88 St. Pierre, MB R0A 1V0. I still think of Bob. He was great to work with and a fair man. Bob had unique insights to life that were always worth listening to. Bob always treated his co-workers right.
