• Both my now late wife, Gail, and I had the privilege of having Mr Melnyk teach our children (both sons and daughter) piano lessons for several years. Because of his reputation in music and teaching piano, we felt privileged to be accepted into his program and drove fifty miles each week for lessons. The children, now all married and living in Atlanta and Scottsdale, always share such fond memories of this kind and gentle and encouraging music teacher they had in Winnipeg. • Both my wife Robin & I, as well as my parents, the late Peter & Mina Weltevreden had the privilege of knowing John though our association with the Winnipeg Music (competition) Festival and although we now live in Australia for the last 10 1/2 years, we would like to express our sincere condolences to you, his family. He will certainly be missed in the music circles in Winnipeg.
