Date of Passing: Apr 08, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJ. MICHAEL BRAID At the Trillium Health Centre, Mississauga, following a brief battle with cancer, on Sunday, April 8, 2012 at the age of 71. Loving husband of Judy. Terrific father of Jennifer (Jim), Christopher, and Jeremy (Jaime). Very proud grandfather of Harrison and Olivia. Dear brother of Peter (Lydia), Jeffrey (Barb) and Susan Forbes (Barrie). He will be sadly missed by Woodie, his black labrador. Mike rose from teller in a suit and work boots to Vice-President in cowboy boots during his 35 year career at the Toronto Dominion Bank. Mike was a champion of the Canadian mortgage industry, taking leadership roles within the CBA, CHBA, BILD and Tarion. Mike was also a co-founder of CAAMP and a tremendous supporter of CMHC. Mike went through his life non-stop. Friends could expect his 6:00 a.m. phone calls and discussions on politics, latest events, etc. He loved duck hunting, kayaking, remote fly-in fishing camps and once around the island in his pontoon boat. He wouldn't hesitate to lend a hand, a foot, a tool, a gun, a blade or a rod. If there was a toy for this or that, he had it and even when he probably still had a use for it, he'd likely give it away. He was a rare and wonderful man. Friends may call at the Turner Porter Neweduk Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga (just east of Erin Mills Pkwy.) from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Ignatius Loyola Catholic Church, 2300 Burnamthorpe Rd. W., Mississauga, on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. On-line condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca

Dear Judy and family. It is with great sadness that we heard of Mike's recent illness and death. Our condolences are with you. We remember fondly our days in Thompson. Mike was always a pleasure to work with, and always had a ready handshake and a smile on his face. He was a special and unique guy. He will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Kelly and Dorothy Simes (Thompson, Manitoba Toronto Dominion Bank Friends) on: May 17, 2012
