RON JAMES LYONS
Born: Nov 21, 1943
Date of Passing: Apr 09, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRON JAMES LYONS November 21, 1943 - April 9, 2012 It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that the immediate family, wife Ann and sons Andrew and Ian, announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and good friend, Ronald James Lyons. Ron's strength and more recent desires for exploration and travel far outweighed the detriments of his cancer diagnosis; resolute and successful in reaching his little piece of paradise, South Padre Island, Texas, one last time. His winter escapades and endeavours throughout the southern United States and Mexico since retirement in 2004 have provided for wonderful memories and friendships for us all. The family gathering place at Hillside Beach, Manitoba, where echoes from generations past of Ronnie still linger in the tall birch trees, and where Ron hand-built his summer cottage, will forever be a location of family reunion. There are no better words to describe Ron than those of an old co-worker: We didn't agree on too many things, but he was my best friend . Most can attest to this statement, a clear display of his compassion, concern and willingness to assist and guide others. Ron is survived by a large quantity of family and friends and will be missed dearly by us all. At Ron's request a funeral service will not be held. Family and friends wish to invite all those who knew Ron to a celebration of his life at Crescentwood Community Center, 1170 Corydon Ave., on Wednesday, April 18th, from 4:00 - 6:30 p.m., where Ron volunteered on the Board of Directors and coached many of his children's sports teams. In lieu of flowers the family would like to encourage donations be made in Ron's name to Prostate Cancer Canada. We love you Ron. You will be in our hearts and memories forever.
