GORDON THOMAS DEARLOVE It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon on Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the age of 89. He will be lovingly remembered by daughter Irene (Mike) and son Allan (Ann). He also leaves his sister Ann; sisters-in-law Anne and Nan, and numerous nieces and nephews. A special thanks to his nephew Irvin (Bernice) and their family for including him in their family functions over the last several years. Gordon was predeceased by his wife Jean; parents Thomas and Stella; brother Russell; brothers-in-law Keith and Calvin, and son-in-law Guy. Gordon was born in Teulon, MB on February 27, 1923 and grew up on the family farm near Petersfield. He and his brother Russell took over the family farm as young men and worked it together until their retirements. Gordon lived on the farm for 79 years. He married Jean Burton on November 12, 1959 and was happiest spending time with his family and buddies, working the farm, hunting, fishing, and reminiscing about the good old days. Gordon moved to Selkirk in 2002 where he lived out his remaining years. Gordon was compassionate, generous and had a soft spot for animals, in particular cats. Cally, his faithful four-legged companion for many years, predeceased him by only a few months. In accordance with Gordon's wishes, cremation has taken place and no funeral service will be held. Interment will take place privately at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gordon's name may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 6 Donald St., Suite 200, Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6 or to the animal shelter of your choice.
