EDWARD JAMES (TED) BLOOMER 1924 - 2012 It is with sadness that the family of Edward James (Ted) Bloomer announces his passing on April 8, 2012. Ted was born in Winnipeg Grace Hospital, raised in Headingley and lived in Winnipeg. He is predeceased by his parents Leonard and Ruth, his in-laws Sam and Carrie Laxdal, and his daughter Karen and son Kelly. He is survived by his wife Lorraine and children Vaughan (Ainsley), Lauren (John) and Joanne (Joe), grandchildren Kelly, Jay, James and Brett, his sister Naomi Smith, his brothers, Lloyd (Bev) and Sheldon (Joyce), and many nieces and nephews. As a young man Ted served in the Navy and travelled the eastern and western coasts of Canada. When he came home he went into the grocery business with his family. Later, along with his brothers, he built, owned, and operated the Charleswood Hotel. He later owned and managed other hotels and remained in the hotel business for the rest of his career. He was a past president of the Manitoba Hotel Association and the Western Hotel Association. Ted was an avid curler and a founding member and past president of the Charleswood Curling Club. He was a member of the Charleswood Golf Club, Warren Golf Club and the Canadian Legion. Ted was at his happiest working around the cottage at Victoria Beach. Ted's wish was to have a private family service. The service has been held. Donations in memory of Ted may be made to a charity of one's choice. NEIL BARDAL FUNERAL CENTRE (204) 949-2200
