SHARON JEAN MCKENZIE (CONROD)
Date of Passing: Apr 13, 2012
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySHARON JEAN MCKENZIE (nee CONROD) Peacefully, with her family at her side, Sharon passed away on Friday, April 13, 2012, in Winnipeg at the age of 67. Sharon will be sadly missed by her caring husband, George; sons Richard and Nelson (Agnes); sister Heather Danielson and many other members of both Sharon and George's families. She is predeceased by her parents Nelson and Minnie Conrod; brother John Conrod and sisters Kathleen Johnson and Barbara Magnusson. Born in Brandon, Manitoba, on November 16, 1944, Sharon lived in several towns in the Interlake region before settling in Winnipeg Beach with George, the love of her life. Always a country gal, Sharon enjoyed nature and the outdoors. She very much enjoyed crocheting and many of her creations are still worn by appreciative family and friends. She also had a wonderful knack for creating vintage period costumes harkening back to simpler times. Sharon was always known for her sincere kindness. Whether it was with gentle words or a warm hug, she knew how to unselfishly lift someone's spirits. Fair and open-minded, Sharon did not judge people. She treated everyone with the same respect. Outspoken and with a razor-sharp wit, Sharon was notorious for her (sometimes racy!) jokes. She enjoyed the company of family and friends. Everyone always knew when Sharon was in the room! Sharon will be deeply missed. Although the last few years of her life were difficult due to illness, Sharon maintained an unwavering love of life that was an inspiration to everyone she touched. Never once did she complain about her situation, but rather simply soldiered on with style and grace. Many thanks to Dr. R.C. Patel and staff of Gimli Hospital and the many nurses and homecare workers who cared for her and enabled her to enjoy as much time as possible with loved ones. A graveside service is planned for family and friends on Thursday, April 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Winnipeg Beach Cemetery on Kernstead Road.
