MARIA ROZALIA (MARK) SCHMIEDER Sadly on April 14, 2012, with heavy hearts we said goodbye to our beloved mother. She was born in Hungary on August 4, 1938, and came to Canada in 1957, with her loving husband Jozeph Schnmieder, (pre-deceased). Between 1957 and 1969 Maria gave Jozeph five children, four daughters, Maria (Allan), Agnes (David), Esther (James) Joyce (Joe) and finally a son, Joseph (Tina). Mom and Dad settled in Winnipeg, where Mom worked at several local restaurants in Transcona, doing what she enjoyed mostcooking. Later going to work for Merchants Consolidated, a job she loved and spoke fondly of. Mom loved to travel, returning to Hungary to see her own mother. She vacationed in Disney World, Punta Cana and Australia to name a few. Mom took great pleasure in the simple things in life, like a beautiful flower garden, a bird's song, the laughter of her grandchildren, the accomplishment in the completion of a difficult puzzle, and the enjoyment of a great novel. She was known by so many as Gramma Schmieder, her life was enriched with the love of six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and so many extended family and friends. Mom will be greatly missed by those that loved her most. Maria and her family wish to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital, 7A South Surgical Care Unit for their compassion and professionalism that went above and beyond. Donations in lieu of flower can be made in her name to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation. A celebration of her Life will be held at the Wheeler Funeral Home, 211 Regent Ave. West, on Thursday April 19, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. Funeral Arrangements In Care Of WHEELER FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY CREMATORIUM 1800 DAY STREET 224-1525

  • Maria was always there when needed. She was a great joy to work with and someone to talk to when my husband died. I will always remember her good food, funny stories and great friendship. Although over the years we didn't see too much of each other, she was a speacial and truly a beautful soul! love Ronnie - Posted by: Veronica (Ronnie) Huff- (co-worker and friend from Merchant's Consolidated days.) on: Apr 16, 2012
