LORRAINE JENKINS May 6, 1919 - April 14, 2012 Lorraine Jenkins (McDonald) passed away peacefully at Glengarry Private Hospital in Victoria, BC. Predeceased by her husband, Fred Jenkins and her sister, Zetta, she is survived by her nephew, Don McDonald and great-niece, Megan McDonald both of Vancouver. Lorraine was a vibrant, fun loving person who loved Grand Beach, her and Fred's Florida home, curling and her favourite beverage. She began her work career at Eaton's in Winnipeg and went on to work for many years at Paulin Chambers Biscuit Company and the Winnipeg School Board Library Services Division. Lorraine moved to Victoria in 2004 but while still living in Winnipeg, she loved her Friday outings with her dear friend, Sandy Glassey and when she moved to Victoria Sandy and Tom visited her every year taking in the sites of Victoria and the Lower Vancouver Island. She also looked forward to Victoria visits by Alma and Bob. A private burial will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Winnipeg on Thursday afternoon, April 19, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, www.cancer.ca in Lorraine's name would be appreciated. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.mccallbros.com

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • Oh Freddy how you can love! I had the honor of knowing lorraine. I met her in the 60s as a young man. We spent many night in the trailer park in Grand Beach. I will miss her, and all the best to the family. Kevin Smith - Posted by: Kevin Smith (Friend) on: Jul 31, 2013

  • I, Doreen, have known Lorraine for my whole life. Even though we were so far apart in recent years, she is always in my thoughts -and especially at New Year's Eve. As a young girl, we spent every New Year's Eve with Zetta, Lorraine, and Don - and then also with Jeannie Turner, their dear friend. Thoughts of Lorraine, her joyful countenance, and her ongoing positive attitude throughout life with all its ups and downs will always be a role model for me. Michael and I send our condolences and love to Don at this time of grief. We are also glad she is "resting" in Winnipeg. - Posted by: Doreen and Michael McFarlane (lifelong friends) on: Apr 21, 2012

  • We loved our weekly visits with Lorraine and will miss her very much. She always enjoyed our home baking or flowers and she brought as much joy into our lives as we brought into hers. She shared many memories of her early days with us and was always so lively and witty. You are a real GEM and we love you Lorraine! - Posted by: Emily & Cecilia & Dr. Alison Walzak (friends) on: Apr 20, 2012
