BARRY NEIL WOLTMAN It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Barry on April 12, 2012 at the age of 59. Dad will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his son Leigh, daughter Stephanie, mother Helen, brothers Gerald and Ken, former wife Marlene and many other extended family and friends. He was predeceased by his father William. Barry began a long career with Canada Border Services Agency in Emerson, Manitoba, from which he was recently retired after 35 years of service surrounded by numerous colleagues. Dad had a passion for capturing his life and travels through photography and sharing his love of music with others. He adored spending time with the family dog, Elskin. Most of all, Dad loved fishing on Lake of the Woods where he would easily spend hours enjoying the outdoors. As per Barry's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held close to his favourite fishing spots; which we have sworn not to reveal. Good luck Dad, the big one is still out there.

  • I worked with and for Barry for many years, he had a great sense of humour and always took the time to talk. Barry also took great pride and interest in our Customs Ceremonial Unit and I want the family to know that we commenorated him at our annual dinner this past Friday. Rest in peace Barry. - Posted by: Brenda Hildebrand (friend and colleague) on: Apr 30, 2012

  • Such good memories of Barry. A good man, compassionate and fatherly. I wish we had spent time retired together. My condolences to his family and a salute to his friends. - Posted by: Ray MacDuff (Friend and co-worker) on: Apr 24, 2012

  • Leigh and Stephanie, your father and I were best friends growing up in Emerson back in the 60s. Even after I moved away we still kept in touch. We were both part of each other's wedding parties in the 70s. It seems we lost touch of each other after you guys were born and I moved back to Sask for the 2nd time. I remember your father as a very good athlete in hockey, track and golf (I could never beat him!). He was also a very brilliant man as he excelled very quickly in his career. I have often gone back to Winnipeg to visit my Mother and was wanting to give your Dad a call, unfortunately that cannot now happen. Although I did not see your father for several years I did think about him quite often and I know you guys were very special to him. I pass on my sincere thoughts to you and your Mom. - Posted by: Terry Dingle (Old Friend) on: Apr 22, 2012

  • So sorry to hear of Barry's passing. Most of my memories of him are from school days but sometimes those are the best memories. May he find peace. Marlene....please know my thoughts are very much with you and your children, Leigh and Stephanie. With sincere sympathy, Maxine - Posted by: maxine french-wood (old friend of marlene ) on: Apr 22, 2012

  • We were shocked to hear the news of Barry's untimely passing. It is difficult to believe that the flowers he so carefully tended at his place on Lake of the Woods, or the many species of birds attracted to his feeders that we daily observed from our kitchen window, or the wonderful freshly caught fish he would treat us to at a moment's notice, will be only memories now, no longer to be renewed. You were a precious friend and neighbor Barry and will be dearly missed. Condolences to the family.
