Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEVELYN (JUDY) LAMONTAGNE (nee BRANDT) On April 24, 2012, Evelyn passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital due to complications following surgery. Evelyn was born December 10, 1941, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, to Johan and Susan Brandt. She grew up with four sisters and a brother. Evelyn liked to tell us stories from the good ole days and share the old wives' tales she had learned along the way. At some point in her very early childhood she was unofficially renamed Judy by an uncle. The name stuck and many, in fact, have always known her as Judy. Evelyn lived the majority of her life in Manitoba, raising her two sons there and working for 21 years at the Bethesda Hospital in Steinbach, Manitoba. Upon retirement, with the lure of grandkids to cuddle, she relocated to Lacombe, Alberta. She enjoyed time with her family, Crokinole, word search puzzles, card games and was known for her very own brand of colour commentary during a good football or hockey game. And although she had an almost lifelong fear of animals, she came to really love them and enjoy spending time with them since coming to Alberta. Evelyn was always more than willing to babysit the two legged and four legged grandchildren. Evelyn was predeceased by both of her parents, sisters Betty (Pete), Dorothy (Howard), Peggy, and niece Lizzy'. She is survived by brother Henry, sister Sharon, sons Ralph (Angel) and Michael, grandsons Emerson and Damon, many nieces and nephews, and also honorary (and possibly favourite) grandson Mouse. In life, Evelyn was loved more than she ever knew and now she will be missed even more. The family would like to say thank you to the doctors and the outstanding nurses at the Red Deer Regional Hospital ICU. Everyone there not only did a wonderful job taking care of Evelyn, you also were outstanding in taking care of her family, answering questions and giving encouragement and support throughout. As per her wishes, Evelyn will be cremated following a service held at Wilson Funeral Chapel, 6120 Highway 2A, Lacombe, Alberta on Saturday, April 28 at 5:00 p.m. Family viewing will be at 2:00 p.m. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to your local SPCA. Condolences may be made through www.wilsonsfuneralchapel.ca Wilson's Funeral Chapel Crematorium with locations in Lacombe and Rimbey in charge of arrangements. 403-782-3366 or 403-843-3388.
