OLIVER RICHARD It is with heavy hearts and wonderful memories we say good bye to Oliver, cherished husband of Sandra, father of Cassandra and Darin (Courtney) who passed away April 21, 2012, at the age of 74, after a brief illness but courageous battle. Oliver is survived by siblings Orv (Judith), Odella (Doug), Ozzie (Mary), Andy (Janice) and Barb (Steve), many nieces, nephews, and other relatives that are the branches of his family tree. He had a life long career with MTS, retiring from PBX Installation in 1992. He took pride in his work, including training the young apprentices who would be placed under his tutelage. Retirement saw him enjoy the things he loved most. Summers spent tending the yard, feeding the birds and chipmunks, building bonfires, grilling the perfect steak. Winters saw him and Sandie heading south, snowbirds in Texas and Arizona. No matter the season, the morning always started the same - brewing the perfect pot of coffee, reading the paper, doing the daily crossword. Oliver had the ability to repair just about anything. He always looked forward to Legion Day where he'd connect with his retired MTS friends, a tradition he carried on in Texas while he wintered there. As per request, a private family gathering will be held. Thank you to all who gave their love, support and prayers during his brief illness, including niece Riva, our daily ray of sunshine , and the St. Boniface Emergency and Riverview doctors, nurses, and staff who provided wonderful care and helped us through a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

We are saddened to hear of Ollie's passing. We offer our condolences to the entire Richard family. We will miss seeing Ollie at ball games and tournaments and at gatherings at Ozzie and Mary's house. Ollie was always upbeat, friendly and positive and it was a pleasure to be in his company. The ballfields will not be the same without Ollie's warm greetings whatever the weather.
