WILLIAM JAMES BRICK William James Brick, born July 1, 1948, in Swan Lake, MB, passed on April 26, 2012, to join his father, Leon and brother, Roy, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill leaves his memories to his wife, Sandra; his daughter Angela and Bill Schroeder, his precious grandsons, Leith and Taven; his mother Myrtle Brick, brother Bob (Fern), sister Brenda (Bob) Roos, in-laws Michele Nylen, Arnold (Donna) Misko, Wayne Misko, and Walter Langver, many nieces and nephews, special cousins Elaine (Les) Einarson and Helen Rempel, special Aunt Myrna (Ron) Tole. Along with Bill's father and brother, he was predeceased by Joseph and Mary Misko, Phyllis Langver, and Delores Sigfussonhis cancer confidant. Bill spent his childhood in Manitou, where he attended school, played hockey, baseball, and golf. He had the honour of playing on the Provincial winning Bantam Baseball team in 1962. Bill was employed with Manitoba Hydro for 34 years, retiring in 2007. Bill had many great friendships and golfing buddies through his work. Bill also spent 22 years referring and umpiring with Sam Tascona throughout Winnipeg and the Interlake areas. He most enjoyed working the annual Oldtimer's Tournament renewing many friendships. Bill and Sandra were married in 1982, and this brought Angela into Bill's life. This also brought in the Misko family into his life. The family was fortunate to do a great deal of traveling with their favorite destination being Hawaii, which they visited several times. Bill was diagnosed in 1999, with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Bill went through years of treatment which afforded him the opportunity to spend valuable years with his grandsons he loved so dearly. Over the years Bill was thankful to Dr. Maxwell and team at the Victoria Hospital Oncology Unit. As well as Dr. Johnston and team at CancerCare Unit at Health Sciences Centre, and most recently to the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital for the great care and support he and the family received. Bill would like to thank Sandra and Angela for their constant love and care over the years. A service Celebrating Bill's Life will be held at St. Andrew's United Church, Manitou, MB, on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Private family interment will take place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to CancerCare Manitoba towards Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, Room 1160, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. Don't be afraid to laugh at yourself. Don't be afraid to tell or show your family or others that you love them. Don't be afraid to have fun. As far as that part goes

Bill had a kind heart and was a pleasure to know and work with - a true gentleman. I know his family meant everything to him. He was so proud of his grandsons, Leith and Taven, who brought much joy to him and Sandra. He was blessed to be surrounded by so much love and I know this helped him a great deal. My sympathy to all of you...especially Myrtle. My sister Sheron & I shared some special memories of Bill on the phone today.
