Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJESSIE BABCHUK Peacefully on Friday, April 27, 2012, Jessie Babchuk (Josephine Gaylie - Jorphes Gajli) left us at the age of 95 years in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Jessie was born June 22, 1916, in Grobla, Poland, daughter of Joseph Gaylie (Juzofa Gajli) and Honor Bochenek (Hororaty Bochenkow). She immigrated to Canada in 1929 at the age of 13 with her father and two brothers. She is survived in her immediate family by her brothers Ben, Ted and her sister Stella. Jessie, a loving mother of five is survived by all her children Barbara, Karyn, Richard, Marian and Cynthia. There are also eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She lost her first grandson, Martin in 1996. John, her loving husband of 59 years passed away in 2008. Jessie was a strong willed woman, independent of spirit, with a great passion and love for life. She considered her greatest achievement her family. The incredible determination, strength and perseverance extended into all endeavors that Jessie took on in her life. She took great pride in having the nicest garden in the neighbourhood and loved her roses. She composted 50 years ago when it wasn't fashionable and had an organic garden. She was a traditional matriarch who always kept the family together with her home cooked meals (especially her perogies) and taught us the value of sharing food with loved ones. Amazingly she continued her Sunday dinners till the age of 90, always dressed fashionably with a string of pearls on. Mom was beautiful till the end. Jessie spent over 20 years as a fashion consultant for Lipton's of Canada and corrupted all her daughters to the world of fashion. We are eternally grateful. She was the magnet that held us together and truly inspired us all. A vibrant flame has been extinguished but her energy will live on in us all. We will miss her. A celebration of Jessie's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 30, 2012, Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please donate to The Kidney Foundation of Canada. Jessie's favorite cause. Jessie's four children would like thank their sibling Barb for being Mom's guardian angel. Like a morning dream, life becomes more and more bright the longer we live and the reason for everything appears more clear -Richter Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca. Jessie will forever be in my heart. Hearing the news of her passing brought me great sadness. When she entered a room her gentle kindness filled it, her joyous laugh touched everyone's heart, her hugs were filled with love and just being in her presence changed the energy in the room. Jessie you will be missed greatly. Thank you for your kindness, laughter, grace, gentleness and love. xoxox elise - Posted by: Elise Gaylie (Great Niece ) on: May 01, 2012
