VANESSA MAI WHEELWRIGHT 1972 - 2012 Suddenly, after a long struggle with her illness, our daughter, sister and aunt passed into the arms of the angels. May she be filled with the peace that surpasses all thought and held forever in the strong arms of Unconditional Love. Vanessa was born in Winnipeg and lived here until 2000, when she moved to San Antonio, Texas. She had a degree in Mechanical Engineering and for many years worked in the aerospace industry both in Canada and the United States. She began her own consulting company in 2008. In 2004, Vanessa survived the Tsunami in Asia (actually being in the sea at the time of the initial wave). This tragic event proved to be a pivotal factor in her life and she struggled to deal with the devastating effects of what she had endured there for the rest of her life. Vanessa leaves her family; father Tony, mother Christina, sister Tarana and her children, Joshua and Emily; brother Jonathan (Lucille) and sister Sarah, as well as many friends who all loved her. The family would like to take this opportunity to express their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends who have stepped forward at this difficult time and given us their love and support on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. We will be holding a Gathering To Remember on May 12, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 220 Hespeler at Henderson Hwy. with lunch to follow. We welcome all to come and share our love for our daughter, sister and aunt. The circumstances of your life do not describe and cannot constrain the greatness of your soul. S. Andrews You will be close in our hearts forever, sweet Nessie.

My condolences go out to the entire Wheelwright family. I know Venessa's father, Tony who was a great man of integrity, critical thinking, and hard work. I know Tony would have instilled these characteristics in his children. God bless. - Posted by: Clayton Shull (friend of her father) on: Aug 09, 2022

I went to junior high school with Vanessa. I had a huge crush on her, but didn't think she would ever like me so I was mean to her because I was scared of her rejection. I am very sorry about that and regret any part I played in her unhappiness. She was a really lovely girl. - Posted by: Chris Dollis (Former schoolmate) on: Sep 28, 2020

You, Tarana, and Cym were all my daughters. You were the smallest, the one we wanted to protect. The one with a sparkle in her eye. I still tell the story of how at 3 you climbed on my kitchen counter, got into the cookie jar and dropped the big lid that broke into 3. We glued it together and everytime I use it I remember sweet, but determined little Nessie. Rest in peace beautiful soul. For the rest of us the peace is elusive. We will forever think of you and miss you. - Posted by: Jeannie Clement (Close family friend) on: May 10, 2012
