BERYL MAVIS FREDERICK (nee DELORY) 1939 - 2012 Peacefully, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, it is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Beryl Frederick, on Tuesday, April 24, 2012, at the Riverview Health Centre. Left to forever cherish Beryl's memory are her loving husband, Gilbert, of 54 years of marriage; children, Allan, Eric (Laura), Cheryl (Brad) Simpson and David (Brigitte); grandchildren Samantha, Cassandra, Tara, Leanne and Kyle; brother Colin (Kathleen) Delory, and sisters Susan (Tom) Drew and Margaret (Wayne) Sloboda; as well as many nieces and nephews. Although born in Stanmore, England, she lived most of her life in Winnipeg, having come to Canada with her parents in 1948. She graduated from Kelvin High School. Later in life, after many years working in the retail sector, Beryl attended Red River College where she earned a Diploma in Developmental Services and began working with disabled and challenged individuals. Beryl exemplified public service in her work as a Developmental Care Worker in group homes, performing Respite work and in her church activities contributing to such programs as the Power House of Prayer, The Alpha Program, and as a Mentor for the four year Education for Ministry course (University of the South by Extension). We will celebrate the memory of Beryl's life with a Service on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Chad's Anglican Church (Assiniboia Christian Centre), 3390 Portage Avenue at Rouge Road, Winnipeg with The Rev. Susan Titterington and a very dear friend, The Rev. Gordon Shields, presiders. A reception and time of sharing will follow the Service. Heartfelt thanks to many family and friends who continue to give their love and support. Thanks also to Dr. J. Atwal, the doctors at Health Sciences Centre, and the many nurses who helped make Beryl's remaining days comfortable. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Beryl's memory to the cancer organization of your choice. Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee, God wanted me now; from pain I'm free.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I am very sorry to learn of Beryl's passing. Beryl and I met at Red River Community College in 1989, when taking our Developmental Services Program. I was very fond of her. In 2009 I moved to Alberta to live closer to my daughter. I now live in St.Albert. Alberta. I was checking on Facebook to see if I could find her. That is when I found this notice. We did presentations at our respective churches many years ago. We then job shared at the Residence on Barker Blvd. I will always remember her fondly. I hope Gil is doing well. I pray that our Lord will give you strength and happiness in your memories. In Christian Love, Brenda Simmie - Posted by: BRENDA SIMMIE (Friend, and co- worker) on: Jun 25, 2016

  • Allan and Eric, we were very sorry to learn of your Mother's passing. The pictures of her that Laura has shared on Facebook show a wonderful personality and of a person who was apart of a loving and supportive family. We've enjoyed reading about her life's work and admire her dedication to her interests and community. Take care, our thoughts and prayers will be with you all on Tuesday. - Posted by: Alison and John Normand, Edmonton Alberta (Friends of Allan, Eric, and Laura.) on: May 06, 2012
