Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET PRIMROSE MCKENZIE HOPKINS Margaret Primrose McKenzie Hopkins (nee Dickie) died on May 2, 2012 at the age of 76. Left to cherish Primrose's memory are her husband of 51 years, Timothy; daughter Siobhan Pouteau (Steve); son Alan (Lori), and granddaughters Allison and Erin. Primrose was born on May 16, 1935 in Rutherglen, Scotland and spent the Second World War in Rothesay. She came to Winnipeg in 1948 with her parents and brother Tommy and attended school here. She was valedictorian at her high school (Norwood Collegiate) and the Provincial Normal School. Primrose was always interested in Speech Arts and attained her ARCT from Toronto Conservatory and her Higher Local from Trinity College. As a member of the Manitoba Drama League, she adjudicated at speech festivals throughout the province. She acted in some Community Theatres and had small parts in CBC radio drama. She was so pleased with the role of Tiny Tim and a few years later married her Timothy in 1960. They bought a house in Wildwood Park - a wonderful place to raise two children and two Labradors. Primrose tried to keep up with the rest of the family in cross-country skiing and playing badminton and tennis. She had fond memories of her years as a member of the Wildewood Club and the Winnipeg Lawn Tennis Club. She was a founding member of the Manitoba Speech Association which later changed its name to the Shoestring Players and she acted in and directed many of their productions. She enjoyed her time with Studio Two Theatre under the direction of Will S. Dickson. They had a new programme every year and entertained many different organizations in the city and province. In later years Primrose was an enthusiastic member of the Taoist Tai Chi Society and assisted in the teaching of the beginner'' class. In 2004, many of the activities she loved had to be curtailed - but she still felt lucky that: - she loved to read - had good friends (a special thank you to Marion) - had her family - Tim her husband (over 50 years together) - her daughter Siobhan (Steve) - her son Alan (Lori) - her two granddaughters Allison and Erin At Primrose's request, there will be no funeral service. If friends wish to remember her, they may make a donation to the St. Boniface Hospital Research Foundation. To see a world in a grain of sand And a heaven in a wildflower
