EILEEN MORRIS (nee SUNDERLAND) Eileen Morris passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on April 28, 2012, at Lionsgate Hospital with her loving husband Bob, at her side after a long struggle with dementia. Eileen was born and raised in Winnipeg, the second eldest of five children born to Eric and Marie Sunderland. In 1964, she graduated in Nursing from the Victoria General Hospital, winning two gold medals for General Proficiency and Nursing Theory. Eileen and Bob, who had met initially in high school, were married on September 4, 1965. Shortly afterwards they left to travel and to live in Sydney, Australia. Upon their return in July 1969, they moved to the West Coast and purchased a house in North Vancouver where they have lived for the past forty years. Their daughter Jodi was born in 1972, and their son Jamie in 1974. For the next 20 years she juggled her responsibilities as a mother, wife, homemaker and O.R. Nurse and made it look easy. She was a friendly, outgoing woman who enjoyed a wide circle of friends. She was also a devoted, loving mother who supported her children and took pride in their accomplishments. Unfortunately after she retired, she fell ill and was unable to enjoy her retirement years. The only bright spot was the arrival of three wonderful grandchildren. She is survived and deeply missed by her husband, her daughter Jodi, (Mike Clark), Owen and Lily of Geneva, Switzerland, and her son Jamie, (Wendy Jones), Arwyn of Victoria, B.C. She is also loved and missed by her sisters, Margaret (Ken Adolph), Winnifred (Peter Blahey), Joannie and her brother George (Sharon) and numerous nieces and nephews. As per Eileen's request, there will be no service, but a small family gathering will be held in June to lay her ashes to rest. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Lynn Valley Care Centre for the kind attention and care provided over the past four years. They also wish to thank Dr. Raymond Penner for his regular visits which were a source of comfort to Eileen. The family also wishes to thank Jim and Donna Phair for their friendship and loyalty in difficult times.
