Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE IRENE JESSIE MACAULEY (nee BURR) June 4, 1921 May 4, 2012 It is with profound sadness, that we announce the passing of our mom, grandma, great-grandma, sister, aunt and friend on Friday, May 4, 2012. Mom was predeceased by the love of her life Lawrence, son-in-law Ernie Driedger and sisters-in-law Amy Burr, Betty Treddenick and Loraine Macauley, brothers-in-law Robert Macauley and Jack Treddenick. She leaves to mourn her loss daughter Jo-Ann (Bob Kinash), grandchildren Leigh Driedger (Natalie Anderson), Brent Driedger (Nathalie Cinq-Mars) and great-grandchildren Aiden and Liam Driedger, brothers Bill, Gordon (Bev) and Richard (Mary) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was born in Gunton, Manitoba. She lived most of her life in Elmwood/East Kildonan. In 1941, she married dad and followed him from post to post during the Second World War. Mom was way ahead of her time working outside the home. She started her career at Eaton's at the age of sixteen. Wanting to better herself, she took a course in typing and book-keeping. After several office jobs, she started with the Federal Government in Supply and Service in 1963, retiring in 1981. Summers were spent at the cottage with the family and the winters took them to Alamo, Texas. They spent many vacations in Mom's favourite place, Hawaii. She was a wonderful cook. Her lemon pies were the best. Mom lived for her children. There was nothing she wouldn't do for them. There is a huge hole in our hearts. We will truly miss you. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Concordia Place, where mom spent the last three years. Your care, concern and kindness were greatly appreciated. A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Klassen Funeral Home. Should friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to Concordia Place 3rd Floor Recreation Fund, 1000 Molson Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2K 4L5. Jo-Anne, Leigh, and Brent. Was looking in the Free Press on Friday May 11 and just so happened to see that Flo had passed away. Mom and Dad spoke highly of your family and I myself had great respect for the same. Although it has been a long time, my family is doing well. Mom (Ruth)is getting on in age and her memory is not the same. We both live in Beausejour and enjoy country life. Wishing you all the best in your time of sorrow. Respectfully.
