GRANT WILLIAM LAYCOCK With sadness we announce the passing of Grant Laycock in Toronto, ON on April 5, 2012. The son of the late Burton Wilma (Owens) Laycock, was born in Wynyard, SK, grew up in Yorkton, SK and (St. James) Winnipeg, MB. Grant graduated with Civil Engineering and Bachelor of Science Business Administration Degrees from the University of North Dakota. Grant was employed as a Surety/ Fidelity specialist over his career. He was Vice-President Surety of Simcoe Erie Insurance Company and continued in this position with the companies that succeeded Simcoe Erie, until his retirement from CGU Insurance in 2002. Grant met his wife Rita shortly after moving to Toronto 1972 and they have enjoyed their home in High Park, Toronto and the company of their toy poodles. Grant was a longtime member of St. Georges' Golf Country Club as golf was his favourite hobby. He began playing golf at Breezy Bend Golf Club in Winnipeg, where he was a member for many years until he was transferred to Toronto. He loved the challenge of competing in golf tournaments and had many successes therein over the years. Some of his other favorite pastimes were analyzing the stock market and entering sporting pools which often proved he had an uncanny knack for picking winners. Fittingly, Grant won the last sports pool he entered by picking the winner of the recent Masters Golf Tournament Grant always had an interest in automobiles and owned corvette convertibles for 40 years. Grant will be lovingly missed by his wife, Rita Houle; his brother, Harvey (Dona) and their children, Brent, Glenn, Dawn, Marnie (Richard); and his sister, Diana (Larry) Crane and their children, Brian (Alex), Allison (Stephen,) David (Joelle); his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and their families. He will always be remembered for his kindness, generosity and sense of humour. Memories will be very special. In accordance with Grant's wishes cremation has taken place.
