Dear June, I just heard of Walter passing away, I’m out of touch obviously. What a great guy he was and what a great family you were to me in my junior high youth. Brad and I were best friends then and Walter was such a humorous Dad. I never knew how to take him, as a respected Minister or as a funny Dad. So sorry for your loss and thank you for all you and Walter did for me as a youngster. Best wishes, Daryl B. from Windsor Park. - Posted by: Daryl B. (friend) on: Sep 19, 2015

I met June & Walter during my stay in their beautiful, Cowan's Castle B&B, during the winter of 2003. June & Walter welcomed me so warmly & pleasant. At the time, I checked the possibility to immigrate to Canada (I am an Israeli born). As I recall, Walter offered me to pick me up from the Airport just after my landing and we became friends the moment we met. I have wonderful memories from the time I spent in June & Walter's home and had the opportunity to meet and chat with their close family & friends. During the year 2004, after my wife Shoshana & I settled in Winnipeg (lived in Canada till 2006 - in Winnipeg and Toronto) we had wonderful time in Winnipeg and met the Cowans several times. We are deeply sorry for the Passing of Walter, We'll miss him a lot. We are back to live in Israel, but planning to visit Canada (Winnipeg for sure) in the near future, hoping to meet again with the wonderful Cowan family. June & fam. our thoughts and prayers go out to you all. Love you, Shosh & Amnon Israeli. - Posted by: Shoshana & Amnon Israeli (Israel) (Friends) on: Jun 15, 2012

On Behalf of the Riding Mountain Conference of Churchmen, I would like to extend our condolences to June and all of Walter's family. Walter will be missed at ChurchMen's Camp at Clear Lake. I have many fond memories of Walter's Voice during Hymn Sing times, and his leading worship, and very poignant stories during discussion periods. His fellowship and camaraderie were felt by all the campers. Rest well the faithful servant. - Posted by: James Douglas (Fellow Camper) on: May 11, 2012

I have many happy memories of Walter from attending Crescent Fort Rouge Church. My favourite memory is when he picked up my infant son in the carrier I had and helped me by carrying him down the steps at church. I was loaded down with baby things and really appreciated it. - Posted by: Amber Wark (fellow church member) on: May 10, 2012

My sincere condolences to June and her family. I enjoyed living in the same house while they were living on East Gate. While June was working in the garden Walter would be baking in the basement. We had many great conversations and got some good advise from him. He will be missed. - Posted by: Bianka (Friend) on: May 10, 2012

Rev. Cowan was my minister throughout my childhood and confirmed me at Windsor Park United Church. Felt I could always talk with him. Once I told him I didn't agree with his sermon he said "well thank goodness someone was listening!". Great baker, a good friend. My condolences to Mrs. C., Susan and the boys. I will miss him.. - Posted by: Colleen Wilson (friend) on: May 09, 2012

I attended church at Windsor Park United when Rev. Cowan was there. He performed all our marriages and christening and burials. He was such a down to earth minister and I enjoyed going to church when he was there. - Posted by: Diane Lemecha (Windsor Park United Church) on: May 09, 2012
