LING YOU AU It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and cherished friend Ling You Au on May 9, 2012 at the age of 93. Ling You was predeceased by his mother Shun Yee Au. He will be sorely missed by his wife of 56 years Hang Yuen, sons Navy (Jackie) and Holy (Susan), daughter Lily (Bruce), grandchildren Blair, Stephanie, Heather, Ashley, Phillip, Amanda, and pet friend Langdon. Ling You will also be missed by his nephew Ken and his children Jennifer and Jason; his three sisters and one brother in China, and one sister in the United States, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ling You was born in Tai Ping, Guangdong, China, and immigrated to Newfoundland, Canada in 1947. His love of Newfoundland was evident in his passion for fishing. After years of hard work, his commitment to support his family led to the establishment of his own restaurant. His success in the restaurant business continued when he moved to Atikokan, Ontario. Ling You's love for fishing continued throughout his journey across Canada. Eventually, he chose to retire in Winnipeg, where he was able to enjoy some of his favourite hobbies, which included mah-jong and horse racing. His sacrifice for his family was an inspiration to all who knew him. Hey Pops, I hope the fishing is better on the other side. We would like to thank the staff of Maples Personal Care Home and Seven Oaks General Hospital for their care and compassion. The viewing will be held on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. Both will be held at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway, Winnipeg. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation Inc., http://sogh.ca/foundation/
