Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDORIS JOYCE LYTLE (DUNCAN) Doris passed away Saturday, May 5, 2012 in Neepawa Memorial Hospital at the age of 87 years. Doris was the middle child of James and Doris Duncan. Doris was predeceased by her husband Allan in 1999, and also by her brother Jack Duncan, and her parents. Doris is survived by her two daughters Jane (Steve Goudie) of Neepawa and Jo Ann Lytle of Neepawa; and her four grandchildren Jason (Megan) Goudie of Saskatoon, SK, Travis (Ewa) Goudie of Calgary AB, Tom (Dana) Dixon of Surrey BC, Leah (Matt) Draper of Cranbrook BC and four great-grandchildren; Cadence and Carson Goudie, Victoria Goudie and Lewis Draper. Doris is also survived by her younger sister Ann Larson of Vancouver, WA and Ann's children Stan Bentley, Caryl Bentley-Brown, Susan Westberg and Ann's granddaughter Olivia. Doris was born in Winnipeg, MB on November 18, 1924. She lived in Winnipeg where she met Allan Lytle. They were married on November 16, 1946. They moved to Neepawa in 1955 when Allan and Doris purchased Fenwick's Department Store in Neepawa MB. Doris worked in partnership with Allan in growing the business to include a new store next to Safeway, a Sportswear Shop at Wasagaming, a shop in the Brandon Shoppers Mall and a store in Rivers. As Jane and Jo Ann grew up, Doris became more involved in the operation of Fenwick's. She loved the fashion side of the business. In 1971 Allan and Doris built the Westpark Place Mobile Home Park. Doris retired in 1977, at the same time as Allan. She took to golf, which remained her passion for many years. Doris was involved in the Ladies Golf Club and became President during one of those years. Allan and Doris travelled south many winters. They drove their trailer to Texas for a couple of years and then to Phoenix where they purchased a condo at the Arizona Golf Resort. Doris continued her passion for golf during those many winters. Allan and Doris celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1996. Allan died in 1999. This was a big change for Doris. With the help of Cecil and Sharon Cox she continued to manage the mobile home park for several more years. Allan and Doris built their house on Brown Avenue in 1963 where Doris has lived until events took her to the Neepawa Hospital. Doris always loved her home, inside and out. She loved her flowers and did not ever want to leave her home. Special thanks to the many home care workers who enabled Doris to stay in her home for as long as she did. A special thank-you to Marilyn MacClay for all her help. The Family would also like to thank the Staff of Neepawa Memorial Hospital for the care they gave Doris during the last year of her life. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 12 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Neepawa United Church. Private interment will take place earlier that day. Pallbearers include Doris' four grandchildren and their spouses. Honorable Pallbearers are Cecil and Sharon Cox. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made to the Neepawa United Church Building Fund or to the Beautiful Plains Foundation. White's Funeral Home of Neepawa is in care of arrangements.

Dearest Jane & Jo-Ann....& families.... Our family ....Carol Ann (Duncan) & (Bob) Kocian of Canmore Alberta, Dianne( Duncan -sister) & (Gord) Marples of Kelowna, BC, Leslie (sister- Duncan) & Dale Lelonde of Calgary Alberta, send our deepest sympathy and love to you all. Losing a mother is so very difficult...we are forever here as a result of the "love" of our mothers. The bond we share with a mother, no matter what challenges we have experienced in life, is indeed "true and wonderful." My memories go so very far back...to when we were "all" so very young...even to Winnipeg before you moved to Neepawa...we use to play at your house and you had such beautiful bedrooms which your mom had decorated for you girls. Jo-ann was so very little. There were many trips for Jackie (brother-passed in Nov 1991) Myself (Carol) and Dianne with our Mom (Doreen - passed Aug.in 1991) and our dad (Jack - passed in April 1995) to spend summers and X-mases in Neepawa and Clear Lake. Vivid memories as young children, were our trips to Fenwicks the Brandon store with your Mom and Dad and have your your Mom say..".ok kids....pick something out as a gift"....we thought the "heavens" had opened...lol... I have wonderful picture of "all" us kids.....your parents and ours at Grandma & Grandpa's house at 584 Acadamey Rd. in Winnipeg...Jo-Ann...you must have been all of four years old....we all look sooooo Cute! Jane & Steve...I remember our family going to your wedding at your folks house in Neepawa....we "all" had a great time....daughter Chezlene (now 38 years and married and living in Canmore) was just a toddler...how time marches on. Jo-Ann...you and I have connected over the years on the west coast....spending time with Auntie Ann and her "soul Mate" from childhood, Joan...(bless her heart...has since passed)...we shared lots of laughs and silly times in Vancouver. I also remember how gracious your parents were to Jack ( my brother) when he and our Mom were so very ill in 1991. The visits to your folks house with Jack, his wife Maggie, his son Richard. That year was so very difficult for us all....your parents helped my folks out in their time of need....and we will always be grateful. I do spend a considerable time with Auntie Ann, Stan, Stacey, Olivia, Caryl & Jim, Susan & Phil...we also share memories spent with your Mom's visits to the Vancouver Washington area. I especially remember Auntie Ann's wedding in Bellevue, Washington during Christmas..when were all there together....she had a White flocked x-mas tree with beautiful red decorations...I had never seen a "white Flocked tree before!!" Doris will be truly missed by her sister Auntie Ann and her family. Girls...with everyone's busy lives and living in various parts of Canada, families seem to drift apart. We are "all" connected through our parents....would "love to re-connect through email and catch up with all of our ever expanding families. Do take care... we send our love and prayers. I remember a number of visits with Doris and Allan in Neepawa. However, the one I remember most was the last time Jack, Richard and I went to Neepawa. It was one of Jack's last visits anywhere as by then his illness was advanced and he knew he didn't have a lot of time left. However, we had a great visit with opportunities to talk about family, history and so on. I remember there was quite a large group of us sitting around the kitchen table, in the living room, and everywhere else. It meant a great deal to Jack to have that time with family and I am thankful that Doris and Allan opened up their home to all of us. I am very sorry to hear of Doris' passing and our thoughts are with Jane, Joanne and families. Sincerely, Maggie & Richard - Posted by: Maggie Duncan and Richard Duncan (Maggie was married to Doris and Allan's nephew Jack Duncan, son of Doris' brother Jack Duncan Sr. Ne) on: May 24, 2012

I remember both your mom and dad fondly, my parents George and Hazel had lots of fun with them in the old days, even after you moved to Neepawa they saw each other on occasion. Your mom was really one of the last of the group, Flo Christie is the only other still going. You where lucky to have your mom as long as you did, you will miss her. - Posted by: Nancy Mann (nee Williams) (parents where old friends) on: May 18, 2012
