YVONNE RACHEL DESROCHERS (nee CLAEYS) September, 1920 - May, 2012 It is with the utmost sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Yvonne Desrochers, at the age of 91 years, on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home. Her daughter, Jeanette, was at her side at the time of her passing. Mom will be forever missed by her daughter Jeanette; son-in-law Ron; grandson Darryl (Cindy); granddaughter Denise (Bryan); and her three cherished great-grandchildren Connor, Courtney, and Jordyn. Mom also leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Mom was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Leo; parents Henri and Irma Claeys; brothers Alphonse, Oscar, Gerard; sisters Maria, Marquerite, Irene, Suzanne and Julia. Mom was born on September 9, 1920, in Swan Lake, MB. She married her soul-mate, Leo Desrochers on November 17, 1943. They farmed in the Baldur-Mariapolis area until moving to Glenboro in 1945 where they resided and worked until relocating to Winnipeg in 1969. There they became the resident caretakers of Westwood House until retirement in 1985. Mom continued to reside in Westwood House until her health deteriorated in September of 2011 and she moved to Tuxedo Villa. Mom worked alongside her husband Leo for the vast majority of their married life. Rarely were they apart. Mom cherished her family and worried endlessly about them all. She treasured the times she could spend visiting with family and even spoke of them the day before she passed. Mom's life was devoted to her husband, her family, friends and her work. Looking after other's needs provided her with a sense of joy. Everything mom owned was a special possession and she looked after her home with glistening perfection . Mom was a great baker and loved to share her goodies. There was a time when many travelled great distances to partake in her baking, particularly her pies. The family would like to acknowledge the kindness and compassion of her caregivers on wing #2 (the riverwalk) at the Tuxedo Villa Personal Care Home, and to the homecare providers who assisted her prior to entering the home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Yvonne's honour to CancerCare Manitoba. Service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. Cremation has occurred; interment to follow immediately after the service.
