Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANINE MARIE YVONNE (MOREAU) HELZER (nee LAFLECHE) September 14, 1930 - April 28, 2011 It is with such sorrow and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Janine Helzer. Janine was predeceased by her father Doctor Georges (MacKenzie) LaFleche, her mother Marietta (nee Manseau) LaFleche, her sister Hugette (Lord), her baby brother Jacques, and her famous sister Giselle MacKenzie. Left to cherish Janine's memory are her much loved brother Georges LaFleche (Noel) from Vancouver. Her ex-husband Robert Helzer from Seattle, Washington who remained a very good friend with Mom and had continuous contact. Her children: daughter Nicole, sons Guy (Stephanie), and Alain Moreau. Her grand-children; Stephane, Robert, Crystel, Vanessa, John-David, Heather, Mathieu, and Jasmine, great-grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Logan, Joshua, and Madison, as well as her faithful and beloved dog (TouTou). Mom leaves to mourn many friends and relatives in her full life, too many to mention. Although a special thank you to Joseph and Ann Plett for being extremely kind and went above and beyond being good neighbours to Mom. Also a special thank you to our sister in law Stephanie (Moreau) for all the help she gave Mom in her last years. Mom graduated and earned her teaching degree, as well as having worked as a ticket reservation agent for Air Canada. One of Mom's greatest attributes was her knowledge and love of music, understandable having come from such a musical family. She was an accomplished singer and pianist and entertained many people throughout her lifetime. She appeared regularly at CBC Canada and travelled abroad in the US and Canada to perform for many establishments. Mom had such a love and passion for animals. She also had a palate for fine cuisine and gourmet cooking. Mom collected porcelain dolls and became quite adept and talented at making them. She was a very creative person in many areas and had many qualities and passions throughout her lifetime. Maman tu as tant accomplis pedant ta vie et tu nous as tant aime. Cetait le temps tu le savais bien. Mais ceci n'est pas la place pour partager. Ne t'inquetes pas maman tout va bien aller. Gros becs amour toujour: tes enfants. And so Mom we leave you for now with this much loved poem. When I die, give what is left of me to children. If you need to cry, cry for your brothers and sisters walking beside you. Put your arms around anyone and give them what you need to give to me. I want to leave you with something better than words or sounds. Look for me in the people I have known and loved. And if you cannot live without me then let me live in your eyes, your mind, and your acts of kindness. You can love me most by letting hands touch hands. Love does not die. People do. So when all that is left of me is LOVE..... Give me away. As per Janine's wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service to commemorate her life will be held at the Coutu Funeral Home on Friday, May 25 at 1:00 p.m., located at 680 Archibald St. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Humane Society or to the Alzheimer Society. Dear Nicole, Guy and Alain It is a very nice obituary that someone wrote. Though I had not seen Tante Janine for a long while, I think of her and the rest of you often. In the last few months I have taken the time to scan all the old Lafleche family photos. I have posted them on a site so that everyone has a chance to look at them. This my tribute to those who came before us and for our children and grandchildren. Aunt Janine, give our regards to the family and friends that we've lost along the way.
