ANNE KRAHN (nee WIEBE) October 11, 1922 - May 17, 2012 It is with deep sadness that the family of Anne Krahn announces the peaceful passing of their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Boyne Lodge in Carman, MB. She is survived by her son Ron (Lynda), daughter Linda (Carl) and daughter Debbie. Left to cherish her memory are nine grandchildren: Brenda (Francis), Robert, Randy (Agatha), Dennis (Carol), Heather (Eric), Eleanore (Steve), Erica (Scott), Nicholas, Jodie (Ryan). Mom's pride and joy were her 11 great-grandchildren: Brady and Joel, Brianna, Tyler and Mikayla, Lauren and Brooke, Will, Olivia, Corwin and Calen (and looking forward to one more in August). Mourning mom's passing are several nieces and nephews, as well as sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law of the Krahn family. Mom was the last of nine children to pass away, which completes that branch of the family tree. Mom was predeceased by her husband Peter P. Krahn in December 2000, as well as two children at birth, Evelyn Joyce and Robert Wayne. Mom grew up in the Zion district near present day Burwalde. Here she met Peter whom she married in 1941. They spent 59 and one half years together. Many of these years were spent as a farm wife, and later, once living in Winkler, she was employed at the Bethel Hospital Dietary Department. Mom's interests ranged from fishing trips to Rock Lake and the Pembina River, to having a large garden. As well she had a passion for music. She taught herself to play guitar and was often heard singing her favourite country and gospel songs. After dad's passing, mom had to leave her much loved home on Mountain Avenue, as well as her special pet (Sammy). Sammy her cat got her through some very lonely hours - the kind of comfort only animal lovers can understand. The greatest blessings for mom throughout the years were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She looked forward to each and every visit, and always had home-baked cookies and treats for the little ones (Kinder Surprise eggs and gummy bears were a staple in her house). The older ones could look forward to getting beat at Yahtzee or Crocinole. Most recently, mom lived at Lions Manor in Winkler where she made some lasting friendships. Then with declining health, she spent several months at Boundary Trails Hospital, Carman Hospital, and her final home being Boyne Lodge in Carman. Viewing will be on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Wiebe Funeral Home, 121 8th St. in Winkler and at Wiebe Funeral Chapel in Morden prior to the service. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Wiebe Funeral Chapel, 1050 Thornhill St. in Morden with interment to follow at Waldheim Cemetery. The family wishes to thank Dr. Allen for his compassionate care over recent years and all the staff at Boundary Trails and Carman Hospital for cheering mom up when she was feeling down. A special thank you to the staff at Boyne Lodge. Even though she only had a few months with you, you became an extended family to her. Your kindness and compassion will not be forgotten. There was one thing each family member could always count on. Mom's parting words would be, I love you, and give the pets a pat for me. In keeping with mom's love of animals, if you choose to make a donation in mom's memory, please remember your local animal shelter.
