T. L. (LLOYD) MOIST 1922 - 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lloyd Moist at Deer Lodge Centre on Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the age of 90 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 61 years, Mae, and children, David (Marlene), Brian (Leila), Paul (Marion), Leslie (Terry), Barbara (Brian) and Kevin (Lisa), along with 18 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Catherine, and by his three siblings, Kay, Bill and Harold. Born and raised in Winnipeg, Lloyd joined the Winnipeg Fire Department in 1940. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1942 to 1945 and returned to his firefighting career after the War. His Fire Department service spanned 45 years. Lloyd was appointed Chief of the Winnipeg Fire Department in 1981 and retired in 1985. Lloyd was a devoted husband and family man. He enjoyed all sports and was an active fan for all of his children's sporting endeavors. The Roman Catholic Church played an important part of his entire life. Lloyd was an active parishioner at St. Edward's, St. Mary's Cathedral and finally at John XXIII (the Assiniboia Christian Centre). Service to his family, his community and his country were the hallmarks of Lloyd's life. He was a man of simple tastes and great integrity, well liked and respected by all who knew him. Lloyd's Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m., at Blessed John XXIII Roman Catholic Church (Assiniboia Christian Centre), 3390 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, with Rev. Fr. Gerald Langevin presiding. The family is incredibly grateful to all of the staff at Deer Lodge Centre (Tower 5) who made life comfortable for Lloyd these past six years. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that a donation be made in Lloyd's memory to the Deer Lodge Centre Foundation, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3J 0L3 or the Firefighters' Burn Fund Inc., #303 - 83 Garry Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4J9.
