RONALD JEFFREY MILNE November 5, 1962 - May 13, 2012 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ronald Jeffrey Milne, aged 49 years, of Lac du Bonnet, on Sunday, May 13, 2012. Ron is survived by his wife of 16 years, Georgia; their son Logan, and their daughter Marina. He also leaves to mourn his mother Phyllis; brothers Rick and Doug (Janet); nephew Brian; niece Tanis; mother-in-law Chiquita Fridrich, as well as his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many good friends. Ron was born in Winnipeg in 1962 and was raised in the St. Vital area until August of 1977. The family then moved out to Matlock, MB, where they ran the general store for almost 10 years. Many good times were spent at their family cottage at Big Whiteshell Lake, a place Ron particularly loved. Ron went to high school in Gimli, where he made many lifelong friends and had many good times growing up there. In the fall of 1980, after graduating high school, he took a job with Manitoba Hydro in Gillam where he stayed for 11 years. Ron enjoyed the North; he loved being outside at his cabin fishing and boating. Throughout his years in the North he, again, made many close friends and he enjoyed the challenges of running the various big dams in those northern areas. Late in 1991, Ron moved south to Great Falls to take an operating position in the Winnipeg River dams. He met his future wife, Georgia, in June of 1992. They dated for four years, married in 1996 and settled in Lac du Bonnet in a house along the river. They travelled a lot and enjoyed fishing, boating and golfing together; and they continued those activities with the children as their family grew. Ron was extremely kind-hearted, intelligent, funny and loved to help people. There wasn't anyone that he couldn't have a good conversation with. He honestly enjoyed talking to all kinds of people and learning everything he could about them. He was a good listener and would remember all kinds of details about people that others might have forgotten. Ron loved to go boating and golfing with his lifelong friends and looked forward to their visits. His family meant everything to him and his best days would be spent peacefully floating along the river in his pontoon boat surrounded by his wife, children and dog Ginger. We will take comfort in the thought that he is now at peace and is with his beloved father Bill, whom he always missed so much. Ron was predeceased by his father William (Bill) Milne in 1987, and his father-in-law George Valentonis in 2007. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ron's memory to the Palliative Care division of Pinawa Hospital or to a charity of your choice. Cremation has taken place. A private family interment will follow at a later date. Ron's family would like to express its gratitude to the staff of the Health Sciences Centre (GD4 ward) in Winnipeg. Also, very special thanks are extended to the staff of the Pinawa Hospital - the support staff, the doctors and especially the nurses, all of whom cared so wonderfully for Ron and his family in his last days.
