LEONARD WILLIAM DANCHAK Suddenly, in the early hours of Tuesday, May 15, 2012, Len passed away in the presence of family and staff at Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre. We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the surgeons who provided their expertise, as well as doctors, nurses, and care givers, who provided assistance and comfort during Len's brief stay at the hospital. Len will be remembered with love and joy by son Glenn and daughter-in-law Colleen; daughters Linda and Karen; sister Olga Berg; brother Dan; brother-in-law Ken Emslie and his wife Frances; as well, as many relatives and friends. Len is predeceased by his beloved wife of 37 years, Arlene and his mother-in-law Anne Emslie. He is also predeceased by parents Joseph William and Anastasia (Nettie) (nee Kostyk), who emigrated from the Ukraine. Len was born January 18, 1935, in Winnipeg. His early jobs included work at Bryce's Bakery, T. Eaton Company, and the City of Winnipeg. He studied civil engineering at the University of Manitoba and eventually found a rewarding career in the homebuilding industry. He worked for much of his life at Kensington Homes as President and General Manager and also served as President of the Manitoba Home Builder's Association. Before retiring, Len went on to design an award winning home with Alderwood Homes. He very much enjoyed the challenging aspect of designing homes which reflected the changing needs of home owners. Len will be sadly missed by his family and those who knew him. He was kind, compassionate, wise, and creative, with a wonderful sense of humour. In his younger days, he was an excellent bowler, and later, became an avid golfer. Upon retirement, when he was not out enjoying a great game of golf, Len enjoyed cooking and really worked to hone his specialties. He was a still waters run deep kind of man. He came to know the Lord early, which greatly helped him deal with life's challenges. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 25, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 390 Marion Street, with Father John Mostivsky presiding. Refreshments and interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, if family and friends so desire, donations in memory of Leonard Danchak may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and the Winnipeg Heart and Stroke Foundation. To sign the Book of Condolences please go to www.knyshfuneralchapel.com And this I know if I'll only be true To this glorious quest That my heart will be peaceful and calm When I'm laid to rest.
