KATHLEEN (KAY) DONALDA TURNBULL It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Kathleen (Kay) Donalda Turnbull on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the age of 94 years at Tuxedo Villa, Winnipeg. She was born in Brandon, MB, July 21, 1917. Following her education in Brandon schools and Brandon College she moved to Winnipeg in 1937 where she lived ever since. Kay spent her entire working career of 40 years with the federal income tax department in Winnipeg in various supervisory positions. Kay was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Turnbull, November 18, 1995. She is lovingly remembered by her step-children Kenneth Turnbull Jr. and wife Nancy and family, and by Glenys Love and husband Frank and family. Kay was one of eight children of Donald Gordon and Katie Belle McKenzie. She was predeceased by her parents, her sisters Margaret Evans, Alyce Simpson, and Lorna Lee, her brothers Ian and Rae. Left to mourn her passing are her brothers Donald and wife Eleanor, and John and wife Norma. She greatly enjoyed following sports, particularly the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the old Winnipeg Jets. She also enjoyed travelling to many places of the world for many years. Of special loving interest to Kay were her many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. She was very special to all. Auntie Kay's house was always open to each of them for a visit or an overnight stay in Winnipeg. Auntie Kay was information central for all the extended family where she always had the most recent family information to pass along. Her loving interest and care was shared by all for many years and she will be sadly missed. At her request cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. I was assigned to Kay almost 3 years ago. She was a lovely person so full of life, always wanting to share with others. Very positive and up beat, it was difficult for her sometimes because she missed a lot due to not wearing hearing aids, but she loved simple things in life, going for short outings in the gardens, her music therapy, and a good meal or a good cup of coffee with her favorite biscuit, supplied by her neices. She enjoyed spending time with people. It was a real joy to spend time with her, although she may not remmber your name but she always made you welcome and was sorry to see you leave, but brightened up when you would say you would be back.
