I've known Betty since 1940 when we were seven years old and we lived next door to each other on Spence Street in Winnipeg. Betty, even as a child, was considerate and kind and had a dignity, combined with humour, that was quite rare for one so young and she conducted herself acordingly for the rest of her life. I can still see her in my mind when she was about nine years old in her wool coat, lyle stockings, and the largest bow I've ever seen in her hair...the fashion at the time which we hated. Betty was a wondeful lady and I will always miss her. - Posted by: Merna Begin (Friend) on: May 27, 2012

Betty was the selling payroll expense planner and controller for me in the Winnpeg DT Store of the Bay. It was a difficult and unpopular job but she was very good at getting the various Dept Managers' understanding and cooperation. She was a very good, patient listener, made everyone feel she really cared about their problems. When she promised to followup with an answer re their issue, she kept her word. She was my confidante on many issues and problems and time after time, she proved how very valuable she was as a member of my HR team. When I was transferred out to BC/Alberta, I really missed having a Betty Bragdon on my team. I will always remember my time working with Betty with fondness and appreciation. She was a very special, one of a kind talent. Betty, your family, friends, and former co-workers at HBC will always remember you.
